Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
7 - 5 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Ross Ocipzak! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
17 - 11 - 0, fighting out of London, Forest Beckford! The judges for this bout are James Ackerman, Colin Fotheringham and Andrew Berry.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Ocipzak throws a front kick aimed at Beckford's knee but Beckford avoids it well. Beckford sizes up Ocipzak with a pawing jab and scores with a straight right down the middle. Beckford cracks Ocipzak with a right hand to the side of the head. Beckford shoots in but Ocipzak avoids the takedown attempt easily. Ocipzak stuffs the takedown. Beckford misses with a looping left. A looping hook to the body misses from Ocipzak. Beckford does a little dance to reset his feet. Ocipzak defending well as Beckford loads up on a big left hand. Ocipzak swings for the body but Beckford moves out of range.
Ocipzak shoots in for a double leg but Beckford sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy. Beckford throws a hook to the side of Ocipzak's head but Ocipzak sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully. Ocipzak staying out of range there.
That's one minute gone in the round. Ocipzak tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Beckford was well out of range. Poor timing from Ocipzak. Beckford throws out a loose jab but Ocipzak uses good head movement to avoid it. Ocipzak swings for the body but Beckford moves out of range.
Ocipzak throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Beckford cracks Ocipzak with a good jab. Ocipzak leaves Beckford with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt. Ross Ocipzak has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Forest Beckford. Beckford misses with a straight left. Beckford misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out. Beckford fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Ocipzak sprawls well initially but Beckford persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Beckford thows a huge punch but Ocipzak dodges it nicely.
Ocipzak wants to get back to full guard. Ocipzak is working hard here to advance position. The fighters are battling for position here. Ocipzak manages to regain full guard. Nice work. Beckford wants to control from the top but Ocipzak keeps moving. Beckford must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Beckford postures up and lands a big shot to Ocipzak's brow. Beckford is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions. Ocipzak looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Ocipzak pushes a forearm under Beckford's chin to create some space. He's escaped his hips and pivoted quickly for an armbar! Can he extend the arm? Yes, Beckford is tapping out! Damn, that was fast!
