Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Frankie Riiser (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Joe Machida (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Machida is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: One Man Army. Joe Machida will no doubt be looking to use his reach advantage to good effect.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Frankie Riiser! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Joe Machida! The judges for this bout are Tarja Halkonen, Marco Blurström and Matti Vanhoillinen.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Riiser rushes Machida and presses him up against the cage. Riiser looks exhausted already! Oh dear, he should have come in in better shape than this! Machida successfully pulls guard.
Machida is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two. The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace. Machida working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Riiser doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Riiser manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem. Machida is active off his back here, looking for submissions.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Machida has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Riiser can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself. Machida is looking for a triangle but Riiser pushes his legs off easily.
This has been an exciting period of action! Riiser pushing down on Machida's thigh, trying to pass to half guard. He's managed it... Nice work. Machida looking for submissions from an awkward position here. Riiser is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.

Riiser moves nicely into side control. Machida tries to buck Riiser off but Riiser is having none of it. Riiser could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely. Riiser thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead. Machida sneaks a leg under to get back to half guard. Machida looking for submissions from an awkward position here. Machida is trying to stand back up but Riiser is controlling him

That's two minutes gone in the round. Riiser is keen to just control but Machida is a slippery customer. Riiser throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man. Riiser wants to lay and pray for a moment but Machida keeps working.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Frankie Riiser. Machida shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Riiser is trying to defend but Machida finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Machida is working for a submission of some sort.
Machida is looking for a kimura but Riiser is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Machida to get the leverage.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Riiser has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Machida is working away from the top position though. Riiser is trying to get back to full guard. Machida is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Riiser has managed to free his arm - good work. Riiser trying to control from the bottom.
Machida in half guard on the top. He's looking for a kimura... He's got it locked and he's managed to free his trapped foot. Riiser tries to escape but it's on too tight and he has to tap! Great BJJ skills there from Machida!
