Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Anderson Silva (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and David Byrne (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Silva comes to the cage accompanied by run this town. Anderson Silva is staring across the cage at his opponent, tweaking his nipples... Tweaking his own nipples that is.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

The judges for this bout are Steve Montenegro, Reed Andrews and Anthony Taglia.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Silva tries to clinch up.

Silva shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away.
Byrne is looking to improve his position but Silva isn't that keen on the idea.

Silva is going oldschool here, as he tries to force Byrne to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Byrne shrugs it off.

Byrne defends a decent attempt at a guillotine from Silva.

Silva looking for an armbar but decides to keep the dominant position instead.

Silva looking to ground and pound but Byrne is blocking nicely.

Silva is standing up out of mount! Strange tactic there - he must really want this one on the feet!
Byrne keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.

Silva drives through and clinches with Byrne against the cage.
Silva tries to score a body lock takedown but Byrne shows good agility there to stay on his feet.

Byrne escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Byrne thuds a left hand into Silva's body.
Good leg kick by Byrne there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.
Byrne throws a quick head kick that skims the top of Silva's head.
Nice sprawl there from Byrne as Silva shoots in.

Silva tries to close the distance and clinch but Byrne swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Silva takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness.

Byrne paws at his opponent with the jab and then lunges in with a straight, right on the button.
Silva shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Byrne lands a jab, followed by a cross and another cross, as Silva backs up against the cage.
Silva shoots in but no luck this time.
Byrne walks forward and throws out a flicking leg kick. Silva checks it nicely though, as he moves to the side.
Silva dives in and grabs Byrne's left leg, looking for a takedown. Byrne pushes down on Silva's head and hops out.
Silva fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Byrne avoids it really well and circles away.
Byrne lands a nice leg kick that just misses Silva's sensitive parts.

Like a baseball bat into the meat of his leg there - nice leg kick by Byrne.
Byrne connects with a leg kick. Silva looked like he was expecting something else and didn't defend it.
Byrne scores with the left hand. Silva knows he should have avoided that one.

Silva shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Byrne sprawls well. Byrne wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Silva gets slowly back to his feet.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Silva shoots in looking for a takedown but Byrne manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Silva's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
Byrne turns his hip over beautifully as he lands a nice leg kick.
Byrne feints with a shoulder and throws a nice leg kick to Silva's calf.
Silva wants to clinch up but Byrne keeps it at a distance.

Silva is hobbling a little on that front leg after taking quite a few leg kicks so far in this fight.
Byrne jabs Silva to the body, keeping him at a distance.
Byrne throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Silva stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.

No luck with that takedown attempt from Silva.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Byrne ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent.

Silva takes a nice looking leg kick right on the meat of his thigh there.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's time! Silva's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.

Byrne stuns Silva with a nice body shot, before stepping back out of range.
David Byrne seems to be getting the better of the standup.
Silva takes a shot right to the bread basket.
Byrne dips to his left and cracks Silva with an uppercut!
Byrne scores with a hook to the body. Silva takes a step back and tries to catch his breath.
Byrne cracks a nice hook into Silva's ribs.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Byrne dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Silva. That did some damage!

Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Byrne throws a leg kick which misses Silva's front leg but catches the back leg as Silva tries to avoid it.
Byrne lands a powerful looking uppercut that connected with his opponent's jaw.
Silva closes the distance and takes a jab right on the nose as he does so.
Byrne connects with a solid leg kick.
Byrne fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Silva.
Byrne bobs and weaves and unloads with a good uppercut.

Silva is rocked!
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Whack! Byrne lands a heavy head kick that drops Silva. The ref tackles Byrne to stop the fight - a great save by the referee because Silva was done.

David Byrne really struggled to get his t-shirt on before his hand was raised. Making sure that CEC Nutrition Q159 (*$75*) logo gets some air time is pretty tricky when you're all sweaty.
