PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between James Braddock (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Sid Lagove (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Lagove has chosen What you say as his entrance music. On his way into the cage it seems that James Braddock has been attacked by a crazed fan! It looks like it might have been the just bleed guy! Luckily James Braddock seems to be OK! I thought that lunatic was in prison!?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 9 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, James Braddock!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 20 - 13 - 1, fighting out of Sydney, Sid Lagove!
The judges for this bout are Hugh Johnson, Summer Carpenter and John Mangel.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Lagove swings for the body but Braddock moves out of range.
Braddock thuds a left hand into Lagove's body.
Braddock stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Braddock wants it to stay on the feet.
Sid Lagove seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
An inside leg kick lands from Lagove.
Lagove changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Braddock tries to avoid it but Lagove manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Braddock to the ground. Braddock escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Lagove moves in looking to clinch but Braddock pushes him off.
Braddock fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Lagove manages to avoid it.
Braddock stuffs the takedown.
James Braddock has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Sid Lagove.

Lagove looks to score with a jab to the body but Braddock is just out of range.

and Braddock connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Horrible takedown by Lagove or perhaps it was just good defense by Braddock which made him look bad.
Lagove throws a body punch but Braddock moves out of range.

and Braddock counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body.
Lagove moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross.
Lagove misses with a takedown attempt - Braddock sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Braddock scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business.
Braddock lands a jab to the nose.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Lagove fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Braddock leaves Lagove with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.

Lagove tries to close the distance and clinch but Braddock swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

James Braddock is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Braddock takes a step towards his opponent and connects with a left hand, before circling away.
Lagove goes for a spinning back kick but it misses.
Lagove fails in his attempt to clinch.
Lagove looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Braddock is fending him off so far but Lagove persists. Nope, Braddock circles away and we're back to standing.

A nice leg kick lands there from Braddock.
Donk. Braddock catches Lagove right on the button with a cross.
Lagove is throwing a lot of body shots here, looking to wear down Braddock rather than just go for the knockout.

Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Braddock looks to land a body kick but Lagove moved away.
Braddock feints and then cracks Lagove's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Lagove down.
Ooooh, nice body kick lands from Braddock. Lagove shrugs it off though.
Lagove is pinned up against the cage taking some big shots here. The referee is looking closely deciding whether he should stop the fight.
Braddock lands a nice shot to the body.
Braddock is really peppering his opponent's head with punches.

Braddock drops Lagove with a hook right on the temple. He thinks about going to the ground but Lagove looks back up at him and smiles so Braddock waves him back to his feet - he obviously thinks he can knock him out after that shot landed.

Lagove is rocked!

Lagove tries to score a power double leg takedown but Braddock sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Lagove somewhat.
Lagove is still on wobbly legs! Can Braddock finish him?
Lagove walks straight into a right hand from Braddock - that's dropped him! Braddock jumps into mount and starts pounding away - can he finish?! More strikes go undefended and the referee has to dive in to save Lagove from any more punishment! Lagove complains about the stoppage but falls over as he tries to stand back up, so it was clearly a good stoppage.
