Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
16 - 6 - 1, fighting out of Tokyo, Yuuto Kawasati! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
18 - 10 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Math Prush! The judges for this bout are Damien Edna, John Mangel and Steve Erwin.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Prush blocks a head kick by Kawasati.
Prush misses the shot to the body. Prush swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
A jab from Prush misses. Prush with a jab. Prush scores with a nice strike. Kawasati shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Prush's guard. Prush has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall. Kawasati trying to control the position from guard on top but Prush is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Kawasati forces his way into half guard. Prush trying to control here.
Kawasati throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage. Prush is concentrating on defense, preventing Kawasati from advancing position. Prush is looking to improve his position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
That's one minute gone in the round. Kawasati slips a nice elbow through Prush's hands, connecting with Prush's forehead. Prush has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Kawasati is working away from the top position though. Prush regains full guard. Nicely done. Kawasati looking to sit in guard and control but Prush gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top. Prush trying to control the position from guard on top but Kawasati is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Kawasati being controlled here, momentarily. Prush wants to control from the top but Kawasati keeps moving.
That's two minutes gone in the round.
OK we're going to have a standup here. Math Prush hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart. Prush scores with a punch to the head. Kawasati keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Prush. Prush connects with a crisp jab. Math Prush is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Prush misses with a series of wild punches.

An inside leg kick from Prush misses. Kawasati lands with a kick to the ribs.
Prush scores with the left hand. Kawasati knows he should have avoided that one. The sound of bone on bone echoes around the arena as Prush checks a leg kick. Kawasati blocks a jab. Kawasati tries a head kick but it misses.
Kawasati ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face. Prush steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Kawasati. Prush throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Kawasati throws a front kick aimed at Prush's knee but Prush avoids it well. Kawasati fakes with the hands and throws a leg kick but Prush is out of range. Prush throws a lazy right hand but Kawasati sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily. Kawasati is looking to land body kicks. Nice body punch from Prush. Prush moves out of range of the body kick from Kawasati.
Kawasati looks for the body kick but Prush saw that one coming. Prush looks to land a combination but Kawasati avoids it well. A head kick misses from Kawasati. Prush goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo. Prush digs a good hook to Kawasati's body.
Kawasati connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there. Kawasati throws a good cross that connects.
Kawasati dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Prush. That did some damage! Prush ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Kawasati moves away. A telegraphed takedown attempt from Kawasati is defended easily by Prush. Prush connects with a good right hand that stumbles Kawasati. Kawasati circles away out of range and recomposes himself.
That's four minutes gone in the round. This has been an exciting period of action! Kawasati swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Kawasati thows a left - swing and a miss! A nice leg kick lands there from Kawasati. Prush is using his reach advantage to land shots from outside his opponent's range. Kawasati shoots in and gets a takedown into Prush's guard. Prush is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two. Prush controlling Kawasati's posture. Prush tries to land a sweep but no joy. Kawasati with a flurry of punches that miss. Prush wants to sweep here but Kawasati controlling him for the moment. The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action! Kawasati passes Prush's left leg - he's now in half guard. Kawasati stalling away here and it's allowed Prush to slip out his trapped foot and regain full guard. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
A close round but Math Prush will probably get the nod. The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!

A jab lands there for Prush. Thud! ouch! good body kick from Prush - that will leave a mark!

Prush connects with an inside leg kick. Prush uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Kawasati.
Prush fakes a jab and scores with a low kick. Prush missing with a left hand there. Kawasati was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one. Kawasati shoots for a double leg takedown but Prush sprawls well. He's pushed Kawasati's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily. Prush has used his reach advantage pretty well so far tonight. Kawasati staying out of range there. Kawasati closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Prush quickly recovers to half guard. Prush is trying to get back to full guard. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Kawasati looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
That's one minute gone in the round. Prush is trying is best to control the position here. Prush trying to control here.
Kawasati is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there. Kawasati prevents Prush from improving his position. Prush is pressing down on Kawasati's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it. Prush is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. Kawasati trying to control the position from guard on top but Prush is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Kawasati drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Prush manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Kawasati has Prush in his guard. Prush throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent. Prush works a leg free and moves into half guard. Prush wants to free his trapped foot but Kawasati is holding on for dear life with his legs. Prush moves into side control, avoiding a weak kimura attempt from Kawasati. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Prush slows the pace down.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Kawasati regains half guard. Prush seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense. Kawasati wants to improve his position but Prush is controlling well.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Kawasati is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Prush pulls his head out easily. Kawasati is refusing to be controlled, as Prush sits in half guard. Prush takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position. Kawasati is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Prush scores with a couple of nice shots. Prush trying to control the action but Kawasati is working from the bottom. Prush postures up and decides to stand up, from the half guard. The ref calls for Kawasati to stand up. A low kick from Prush is predictable there and Kawasati cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Kawasati moves out of range of the body kick from Prush.
Prush lands with a nice combination. Kawasati backs away looking to recover. Prush works the jab nicely. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Kawasati walks forward and throws out a flicking leg kick. Prush checks it nicely though, as he moves to the side. Horrible takedown by Kawasati or perhaps it was just good defense by Prush which made him look bad. A looping hook to the body misses from Prush. Kawasati does a little dance to reset his feet. Kawasati misses with a body shot.
Kawasati shoots in but Prush avoids the takedown attempt easily. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Yuuto Kawasati. That's going to take a lot out of him. Kawasati misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Prush.
Prush dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Kawasati. That did some damage! Kawasati keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Prush lands with a thumping leg kick.
Kawasati fails with a takedown attempt from distance. Kawasati tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Prush was well out of range. Poor timing from Kawasati. Prush cracks Kawasati with a good shot that sees him stumbling back into the cage. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Math Prush showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin! So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.
Prush leaves Kawasati with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt. Kawasati checks a low kick from Prush. Kawasati moves out of range as Prush strikes. Kawasati uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Prush.
Jab, jab by Prush - just one landing. Prush fakes a jab and scores with a low kick. Kawasati throws a predictable looking body shot
and Prush counters with a lovely shot to the body. Kawasati throws out a token jab with nothing on it. Kawasati closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Prush to the mat! Prush manages to get full guard. Kawasati throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Prush works some decent striking defense from the bottom. Kawasatiis looking to pass into half guard but Prush pushes him away with his feet and jumps on top - now Prush is in guard. Prush wants to control from the top but Kawasati keeps moving. Kawasati manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Prush manages to get himself to full guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Prush looking to hit a scissor sweep but Kawasati is one step ahead there. Prush is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Kawasati slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up. The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work. Prush is trying to control the position but Kawasati postures up. Kawasati pushes down on Prush's leg and manages to get into half guard. Prush won't allow Kawasati to pass to mount. Kawasati is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Prush has managed to free his arm - good work. Prush is trying to stand.
Yuuto Kawasati has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
That's two minutes gone in the round. Prush is trying to get back to full guard. Kawasati is looking to pass the guard... He's managed it - he's now in full mount! Kawasati looking to finish Prush with some ground and pound. This is bad for Prush! Kawasati looking to secure an arm triangle but Prush defends it well. Prush looks out of his depth in this position - he's holding on tight. Prush is looking to get to half guard. This has been an exciting period of action! Prush manages to regain half guard. Good work. Kawasati seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Prush does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Kawasati is looking for the mount but instead finds himself back in full guard. Prush kicks Kawasati off and gets to his feet. Kawasati shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it. Math Prush seems to be getting the better of the standup. Kawasati throws a looping overhand right but Prush ducks down to avoid it. Kawasati moves out of range of the body kick from Prush.
Prush looks to land a combination but Kawasati avoids it well. Prush takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch. Kawasati takes a hook to the side of the head. I wonder if that's got his ears ringing.
Kawasati drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Kawasati looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything. Both fighters are breathing heavily. You can see the frustration on Prush's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Kawasati tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Prush sneaks back into half guard. Kawasati is looking for a kimura. It's pretty deep but Prush still has the half guard so he's probably OK. Oh, Prush has exploded into a beautiful escape there and after a quick scramble, he's ended up in side control on top! Nice work! Kawasati tries to bench press Prush off him but Prush keeps the position. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. A lull in the action here as Prush stalls from top position. Math Prush is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight. Kawasati is trying to improve his position.
And that's the end of the fight! That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Yuuto Kawasati. I think Prush has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
