Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Kai Gi (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Gancho Santos (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
12 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Kai Gi!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
7 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Gancho Santos!
The judges for this bout are Frank Antenori, and Don Winkell.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Santos shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Gi's guard.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
Santos controls from within his opponent's guard.
Gi keeping moving, preventing Santos from controlling successfully.
Santos engaging in some classic timewasting tactics.
Gi working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Santos doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Santos manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Santos cracks Gi with a solid left hand.
Gi is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
Gi escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Santos gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Gi had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Santos defends it easily.
Santos wants to pass the guard but Gi is keeping the position.

Gi looks to be working for a triangle here. Oh, it looks like he might have it! Santos has picked Gi up and slammed him! Gi can't keep hold of the triangle and Santos manages to pass to side control!

Gi is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Santos pulls his head out easily.

Gi is desperately trying to improve his position but Santos has a good base and remains in mount.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Gi manages to regain half guard. Good work.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Gi sneaks a leg back under and regains half guard and is working straight away to try and get back to guard. He hasn't managed just yet though.

Gancho Santos has forced the referee to step in and restart the fight on the feet.
Santos fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Gi sprawls well initially but Santos persists and gets the takedown into half guard.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! This is the final round!

Gi postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Santos is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Gi, into his guard.

Santos stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Gi swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Santos working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
Santos loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
Santos drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Santos jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Gi has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Santos can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
This has been an exciting period of action!

Santos seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.
Gi looking to force a kimura from the bottom here. He's concentrating on that move too much though and Santos pushes past his half guard into mount!
Kai Gi has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
