Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Rashed Evans! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Jack Reaver! The judges for this bout are Jeff Smith, Micheangelo Fripello and Paul Gruel.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Reaver misses with a series of wild punches.
Reaver misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Horrible takedown by Evans or perhaps it was just good defense by Reaver which made him look bad. Reaver ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Evans moves away. Evans fails with a takedown attempt from distance. Evans fails with the takedown. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Rashed Evans. That's going to take a lot out of him. Reaver misses with a series of wild punches.
Evans throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Reaver's waist but Reaver gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Evans off to one side. Evans takes a head kick and keeps coming.
Evans misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Reaver throws a quick head kick that skims the top of Evans's head.
That's one minute gone in the round. Reaver throws a two punch combo that lands nicely.
Reaver cracks the inside of Evans's front leg. Reaver lands with a kick to the ribs.
Reaver lands a head kick. Evans smiles back at him and beckons him forward. Reaver scores with a three punch combo!
Reaver swats away the attempt to clinch by Evans. Evans is looking to clinch. Reaver misses with a double jab
and Evans holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch. Reaver prevents Evans from breaking the clinch. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Reaver's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Evans gets cracked there but stands up to it.
Evans works the jab nicely. Reaver lands a head shot. Evans has a takedown stuffed. Evans is breathing heavily. Reaver connects with a looping right hand.
This is turning into a torrid day at the office for Evans. He's trying desperately to land a takedown but he's failing miserably and getting slapped silly on the feet to compound his misery. Reaver leaves Evans with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt. Evans tries to close the distance and clinch but Reaver swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away. Reaver misses with the combination.
Jack Reaver is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Evans takes a head kick and shrugs it off.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Reaver lands with a straight right. Evans didn't see that one coming. Reaver works the jab nicely. Reaver lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Evans circles away quickly and effectively. Evans moves in looking to clinch but Reaver pushes him off. Evans takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it. Evans misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Reaver.
Evans misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out. Evans on the receiving end of a decent leg kick there by Reaver. Reaver obviously looking to wear him down.
Reaver throws a head kick that half lands.
Reaver lands with a two punch combination before moving back out of range.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Reaver throws a nice head kick!
That's four minutes gone in the round. Reaver circles to his right before unloading a perfect head kick! Evans drops to the canvas, hurt badly! Reaver follows Evans to the ground and unloads with a series of strikes that force the referee to step in and end the fight! This one is all over!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:08 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Jack Reaver!
