Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between James Jones (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Pipoy Palay (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Pipoy Palay!
The judges for this bout are Steve Erwin, Winston Howard and Bruno Hogan.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Jones fails with a takedown attempt.
Palay slaps away a takedown attempt from Jones, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Palay shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Jones pinned against the cage. Jones gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Palay is trying hard to land a takedown here. Jones sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.
Jones fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for James Jones. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Palay closes the distance and clinches up with Jones, looking for a takedown. Palay pushes Jones against the cage but Jones circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

Palay looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Jones is fending him off so far but Palay persists. Nope, Jones circles away and we're back to standing.

Jones gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Palay to score an easy takedown into full guard.
Palay is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.

Jones seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
Jones misses with a takedown attempt - Palay sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.

Jones shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Palay pinned against the cage. Palay gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
The fight stays on the outside here - Jones looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

Palay takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Jones doesn't manage to clinch there - Palay circles away.
Palay keeps the fight on the outside.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that James Jones will probably get the nod.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


Palay lands a head kick. Jones smiles back at him and beckons him forward.
Jones lands with a nice body punch.
James Jones seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Jones looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Jones tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in the close the distance. Palay manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.

Palay dives in and grabs Jones's left leg, looking for a takedown. Jones pushes down on Palay's head and hops out.

Jones looks to land a combination. Palay sees it coming but can only parry a couple of the shots.

Jones manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Palay on his heels. He'll look to pass Palay's guard now, I'm sure.

James Jones dominated that second round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. This is the final round!

Jones would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.

Jones wants to get up but he can't break Palay's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.
Jones throws an elbow that misses. Palay uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Jones's guard. Nice move by Palay!
Jones thows some rabbit punches from the bottom but they don't do any damage.
Jones seems keen to control Palay's posture.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of James Jones.
Palay shoots in looking for a takedown but Jones manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Palay's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
Jones cracks Palay with a right hand to the side of the head.
Palay keeps the fight on the outside.

Jones scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.
Palay is not content to let Jones control the position.
James Jones overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
You can see the frustration on Palay's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.

James Jones showed his dominance in that final round.
Well Jones has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
