The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A low kick from Trudeau misses
and Lakes counters with a left and a right that stings Trudeau.
Lakes tries to bum rush Trudeau with a series of wild strikes but Trudeau uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Trudeau misses with a telegraphed body shot
and Lakes counters with a leg kick that reverborates around the arena.
Trudeau fakes a jab and throws a low kick but Lakes checks it well.
Trudeau throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Lakes.

Trudeau rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Lakes moves out of range and avoids them all easily.

Lakes is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Trudeau pulls his head out easily.

The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Lakes shoots for a double leg takedown but Trudeau sprawls well. He's pushed Lakes's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

Trudeau lands a big elbow from half guard. That looks like it's hurt Lakes quite badly. Lakes pulls Trudeau in close trying to recover. Trudeau postures up and lands two really hard shots that put Lakes on queer street! The ref takes a look and decides to call an end to the fight! Possibly an early stoppage but Lakes doesn't seem to be complaining too much.
