Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
4 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Who Da! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
6 - 12 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Derek Scarlatti! The judges for this bout are Bruno Hogan, Winston Howard and John Mangel.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Scarlatti fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Scarlatti tries to score with a low kick but Da moves his leg out of the way. Derek Scarlatti seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Scarlatti moves in looking to clinch but Da pushes him off. A slow jab from Da misses its intended target. Scarlatti doesn't manage to clinch there - Da circles away.
Da changes levels and scores with a jab to the body. Nice defenses there by Scarlatti. Scarlatti keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Da throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Scarlatti is looking to slow Da down with leg kicks. Da lands a head shot. Scarlatti looks to score with a combo but nothing lands. Scarlatti takes one to the side of the head.

Da throws a blind hook that connects with the side of Scarlattis head. A frustrated look appears on Da's face as he tries to break the clinch. Da is trying to drag Scarlatti to the mat but Scarlatti just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there. Scarlatti manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Scarlatti pushes Da off for just long enough to get back to his feet. Very athletic spring there. Da bobbing and weaving, closes the distance and lands a hook to the side of Scarlatti's head.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Da throws a wild combination but nothing lands. A big right from Da misses. Da scores with a jab. Scarlatti acknowledges it with a nod of the head. Da throws a body punch but Scarlatti moves out of range. Da shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Scarlatti as he jumps to the side. Scarlatti just misses with a punch to the body.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Da misses with a wild body shot. Da fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Scarlatti manages to avoid it. Scarlatti throws a sloppy head kick and Da moves out of range easily. Da misses with a looping right. Scarlatti slips a jab and a cross from Da.
Da decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard. Da trying to control from half guard but Scarlatti is working away.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Da missing with the ground and pound from half guard. Scarlatti is trying to stand up here but Da is controlling him well. Da sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Scarlatti defending well though. Scarlatti manages to escape and get back to his feet! Da fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Scarlatti closes the distance looking to clinch and Da counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Scarlatti moves into range and clinches up with Da. Scarlatti manages to break the clinch.
Da throws a big shot that misses. Scarlatti tries to clinch up but Da circles away and keeps his distance. No luck with that takedown attempt from Da. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Who Da. That's going to take a lot out of him. Da keeps the fight on the outside. Scarlatti has managed to clinch.

Da tries to keep at a distance but Scarlatti has taken the fight into the clinch. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Scarlatti breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Scarlatti tries to grapple but his opponent circles and Da counters with a three punch combo that has Scarlatti backing up. Scarlatti nods at Da to acknowledge the strikes. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close round but I would say that Who Da will probably get the nod. The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.
Da lands a nice hook to Scarlatti's body. Scarlatti takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes. Scarlatti tries to clinch up but Da circles away and keeps his distance. Da connects with a good right hand that stumbles Scarlatti. Scarlatti circles away out of range and recomposes himself. Da misses with a double jab.
Scarlatti is looking to clinch. Scarlatti slaps away a takedown attempt from Da, before circling back to the center of the mat. Scarlatti takes a shot right to the bread basket. Scarlatti walks straight into an uppercut. Luckily it didn't land flush. Scarlatti is looking to clinch. Da throws a jab but it's blocked by Scarlatti. Scarlatti shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Da defends it nicely. Da scores with a decent looking hook.

Who Da is winning the standup battle so far. Scarlatti tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Da paws at him with a jab and circles away. Scarlatti throws a hook but Da avoids it easily. Scarlatti throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
letting Da counter with a right hand. Da missing with a left hand there. Scarlatti was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one. Da dips to his left and cracks Scarlatti with an uppercut! Scarlatti tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in the close the distance. Da manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat. Da jabs Scarlatti right on the nose. Scarlatti blinks but takes it well. Scarlatti shoots in but Da avoids the takedown attempt easily. Scarlatti tries to clinch up. Scarlatti tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion. Scarlatti fails in his attempt to clinch.

That's going to take a lot out of Derek Scarlatti. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Some wild striking there from Da.
Da pushes forward with a 1-2 combination that forces Scarlatti back to the cage. Da follows up with a solid lead hook to the liver. Da stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Da wants it to stay on the feet. A swing and a miss from Da. Da scores with a jab. Scarlatti doesn't succeed with the takedown and Da counters with a straight right hand. Da displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Scarlatti.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Scarlatti has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from Scarlatti there as he acknowledges the shot. Scarlatti uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Da. Nice defenses there by Scarlatti. Scarlatti tries to sprawl but Da drives through with a takedown into half guard. Scarlatti is looking to escape. Da tries to stand and escape but Scarlatti actually recovers to full guard. Scarlatti is looking to stand up but Da isn't so interested in that idea. Da is looking to work some ground and pound but Scarlatti has wrist control.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Da wants to stand and escape but instead Scarlatti has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard. Scarlatti trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat. Da manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Scarlatti is trying to get back to his feet but can't. Scarlatti bucks Da off and manages to get back to his feet! Scarlatti staying out of range there. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. A combination from Da does no damage. Da gets tackled into the cage by Scarlatti. Scarlatti maintains the clinch. Da wants to break the clinch but can't.

Who Da dominated that second round. That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. This is the final round!

Da escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet. Da misses with a hook. Scarlatti keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Da. Scarlatti takes the fight into the clinch. Scarlatti drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Scarlatti misses with an elbow over the top. Scarlatti escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

Da working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage. Da trying to control the position from guard on top but Scarlatti is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Da landing with the ground and pound. Derek Scarlatti has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Who Da is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach. Da is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.
And that's the end of the fight! Who Da showed his dominance in that final round. Well I reckon that's a shut out for Da, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
