PBP Commentary |
Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Dexter Redshaw (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Craigie Bee (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Redshaw comes to the cage accompanied by ACDC - Skies on Fire. The atmosphere really building for this one as we go over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
12 - 8 - 3, fighting out of Sydney, Dexter Redshaw! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
9 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Craigie Bee! The judges for this bout are Skip Squint, Damien Edna and Summer Carpenter.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Redshaw looks for the body kick but Bee saw that one coming. Redshaw misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Bee.
Redshaw lands a powerful looking uppercut that connected with his opponent's jaw. Redshaw tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Bee was well out of range. Poor timing from Redshaw. Bee keeps Redshaw at a distance using the push kick. Redshaw throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Bee stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly. Redshaw scores with a punch to the gut of his opponent. Bee darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard. Redshaw wants to get back to full guard. Bee is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Redshaw doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Bee. Redshaw is looking for a sweep. Bee is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
That's one minute gone in the round. Redshaw is working hard here to advance position. Bee missing with the ground and pound from half guard. Redshaw tries to get to full guard but Bee has control of the leg. Bee throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man. Redshaw wants to improve his position but Bee is controlling well.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Redshaw is staying active underneath Bee, who seems content to just control the action from this position. Bee seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Redshaw is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Bee pulls his head out easily. Bee is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Redshaw sees it coming and defends easily. Redshaw manages to get to full guard.
Redshaw keeping moving, preventing Bee from controlling successfully. Bee throws a big right hand that misses. Redshaw is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Redshaw is looking for a kimura here.
Bee is looking for a sweep. Redshaw is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Bee blocking the ground and pound attempt from Redshaw. Bee regains full guard, whilst avoiding punches from Redshaw. Redshaw trying to control but Bee is working from the bottom. Bee controls Redshaw momentarily but Redshaw frees himself. Bee tries to land a sweep but no joy. Redshaw throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Bee works some decent striking defense from the bottom. Bee working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Redshaw doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Redshaw manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem. Bee working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Redshaw.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Bee keeping moving, preventing Redshaw from controlling successfully. Bee has momentary wrist control but Redshaw slips an elbow through the middle. Redshaw trying to move into half guard but instead Bee has managed to sweep! Bee throws a big elbow that misses. Redshaw is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. Redshaw working for a triangle but Bee defends it easily.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Bee wants to control from the top but Redshaw keeps moving. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Redshaw preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close round but I would say that Dexter Redshaw will probably get the nod. That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.
Redshaw tries to clinch there but Bee circles away.
Bee throws a head kick but Redshaw moves out of range.
Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from Redshaw. Bee jabbing away but nothing is landing. Bee lands a jab-cross combination. A head kick misses from Redshaw. Bee waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract Redshaw. Redshaw avoids the body shot from Bee.
Redshaw tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion. Bee attempts a low kick but it misses it's target. Bee throws a combination that misses and Redshaw counters with a nice body shot. Redshaw wants to clinch. Bee avoids the head kick by Redshaw.
A looping hook to the body misses from Bee. Redshaw does a little dance to reset his feet. Bee looking to throw a kick but he's pulled out of it.
That's one minute gone in the round. Bee is looking to land body kicks. Bee closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Redshaw to the mat! Redshaw manages to get full guard. Bee stands over his opponent and dives in with a flying punch! Redshaw throws up his legs and catches Bee in a triangle! Oh this looks tight! Bee tries to escape but he's forced to tap! Wow, fantastic work there by Redshaw! That came out of nowhere!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:29 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle Choke). Dexter Redshaw!
