The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Cari gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily

and Barnett counters with a single leg into guard. Cari didn't expect that.
Cari wants to improve his position but instead Barnett has moved into half guard.
Barnett throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.
Cari tries to strike from the bottom but it doesn't land.
Cari is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Cari is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Barnett is pressing down on Cari's thigh, looking to free his foot. Cari is holding on for now.

Cari makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Cari.

Cari tries to roll over but Barnett keeps him under control.

Barnett is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.

Cari is looking to improve his position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Barnett wants to control but Cari is keeping him busy.

Cari has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Barnett is working away from the top position though.

Barnett stands, ready to strike. The ref makes him back up and allows Cari to get to his feet.

so Barnett counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.

Barnett not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Cari is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
Cari can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Barnett controls the pace.
Barnett advances to half guard.
Barnett works his foot free and advances to mount.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Barnett trying to control but Cari is having none of it.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.

Barnett tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Cari paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Barnett feints and then cracks Cari's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Cari down.
Cari shoots in but doesn't get the takedown

and Barnett counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Cari's guard now.
Barnett lands a couple of elbows.
Josh Barnett overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Barnett stands and steps away. Cari gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.
Cari shoots and misses

and Barnett counters with a nice double leg into side control. Cari won't be happy with that.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Cari is looking for a sweep.
Cari is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Barnett off and has taken his back!
Barnett is trying to get back to his feet but Cari has full control of the position and if anything, Barnett has just worked his way into a worse spot.

Cari looking to break Barnett's wrist control so he can sink in the choke. Barnett remaining controlled and patient though - he really has to keep calm otherwise Cari will wrap this one up with the rear naked choke!

Cari is staying calm and holding on to the back position, whilst working on a rear naked choke. Barnett is defending well though. Cari let's go of the attempt for now.
Cari is breathing heavily.

Cari doesn't have the hooks in and Barnett manages to turn into his guard.
Barnett controls the pace of the fight for a moment.

Barnett gets to his feet. Cari looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!

Barnett wants to control but Cari is keeping him busy.
A lull in the action here.

Barnett landing strikes.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Barnett in side control lands a nice looking series of punches and elbows.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Cari can't do much from the bottom here.
Cari is looking to reverse the position.
Cari tries to get back to his feet but has found himself mounted instead. Damn, that's gotta suck.
Cari tries to lock up and control but Barnett gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.

Cari has left one of his arms exposed and Barnett doesn't need a second invitation. He's isolated it and locked on a tight armbar. Cari screams and taps out, obviously in a lot of pain. Hopefully there isn't permanent damage to that arm.

After the fight, Josh Barnett was humble in paying tribute to his opponent but made it clear he wants to go on to bigger and better things. It seemed to go down well with the crowd who cheered him loudly.
