Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Kazushi Sakuraba (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mickey Mouse (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). This should be fireworks!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 12 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Kazushi Sakuraba!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 11 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Mickey Mouse!
The judges for this bout are Shigeki Sano, Yukihiro Yamamoto and Taro Takaoka.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Sakuraba throws a head kick that misses.
Mouse fails to land with a series of punches.
Mouse's jab looks to have found its range, popping Sakuraba under the eye.
Mouse looks to land a right hand but Sakuraba moved out of range.
Sakuraba lands a head shot.
Mouse tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Sakuraba swivels and escapes.
Mouse shoots in for a takedown but Sakuraba shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.

Mouse feints and as Sakuraba raises his hands in defense, Mouse changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.

Mouse slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.

Mouse tries to bum rush Sakuraba with a series of wild strikes but Sakuraba uses good footwork to avoid the assault.

and Sakuraba counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.

Mouse throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Sakuraba was covering up waiting for the punch and Mouse finishes the takedown easily into guard.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Mouse got a little sloppy there for a moment and Sakuraba has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Mouse has managed to get both his arms back between Sakuraba's legs - danger averted.

Sakuraba tries to roll over but Mouse keeps him under control.
Mouse throwing shots but Sakuraba is blocking nicely.

Mouse wants to work for an arm triangle but Sakuraba is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
Sakuraba is not content to let Mouse control the position.

Sakuraba is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Mouse pulls his head out easily.
The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Mouse lands a nice short elbow.
Mouse prevents Sakuraba from improving his position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Sakuraba controls Mouse momentarily but Mouse frees himself.

Sakuraba has his foot on Mouse's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Mouse works his way back into a safe position though.
Both fighters really going for it on the ground here!

Sakuraba is breathing heavily.
The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Mouse lands a nice short elbow.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Mouse is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

Mouse slips a nice elbow through Sakuraba's hands, connecting with Sakuraba's forehead.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Mickey Mouse dominated that round.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Sakuraba lands with a kick to the temple. Mouse shrugs as if to say "is that all you've got?"
Sakuraba pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Mouse will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Mouse throws a lazy head kick
and Sakuraba counters with a big head kick but Mouse shrugs it off.
Sakuraba takes a jab right on the kisser.
Sakuraba throws a right and a left that both miss.
Mouse throws a body punch but Sakuraba moves out of range.
Mouse is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Sakuraba.
Mouse misses with a double jab.
Sakuraba connects with a single shot there.
Sakuraba moving in and out of range nicely, whilst landing the scoring shot.
Mouse misses with a right hand
and Sakuraba counters with a nice uppercut.
Mouse doesn't succeed with the takedown
and Sakuraba counters with an outside leg kick.

A low kick from Mouse is predictable there
and Sakuraba counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.

Horrible takedown by Mouse or perhaps it was just good defense by Sakuraba which made him look bad.
Mouse shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it.

Mouse rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Sakuraba moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Mouse throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Sakuraba.
Sakuraba throws a head kick that misses.
The fighters circle momentarily. Sakuraba darts into range and connects with a nice straight punch.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Sakuraba sizes up Mouse with a pawing jab and scores with a straight right down the middle.
Sakuraba throws a right and a left that both miss.
Mouse misses with a hook to the body

and Sakuraba counters with a nice double leg into side control. Mouse won't be happy with that.
Who's going to make the next move?
Sakuraba misses with a strike but at least he's keeping busy, looking to cause some damage - that will still help him when it comes to the judges scorecards.

Mouse gives up the full mount - oops, sloppy defensive grappling there!
Mouse tries to hold on but Sakuraba postures up.

It looks like Mickey Mouse has been cut.

Sakuraba moves into side control, trying to work for a kimura. That looks painful! Will he finish!!?? No, Mouse has worked his arm free - good work by Mouse!
Sakuraba tries to advance to mount but Mouse denies him.
Mouse tries to buck Sakuraba off but Sakuraba is having none of it.

Sakuraba is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Mouse has escaped the position, nice work there.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Sakuraba tries to free his leg and advance position but Mouse is retaining full guard.
Sakuraba postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.

Mouse wriggles free and stands up.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin! And we move into the final round!


Mouse fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
Mouse misses with a takedown attempt - Sakuraba sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.

Sakuraba cracks Mouse with an open hand slap.
That's a knee to de groin and it's over and out! Mouse crumples to the ground after an illegal strike from Sakuraba - the referee stops the clock and Mouse gets 5 minutes to recover from that one. "I'm sorry" says Sakuraba. Mouse manages to get back to his feet and the fight resumes.

Mouse has butterfly guard. He's looking to stand up here. He pushes Sakuraba off him and springs to his feet nicely. The crowd applauds.

A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Mouse.
Mouse shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Sakuraba as he avoids it easily.
Mouse's hands are dropping dangerously low here and Sakuraba connects clean with a right hook that sends him down to one knee! Mouse scrambles back to his feet.
Mouse throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Sakuraba throws a combination. Mouse tries to block but a couple of punches get through.
Sakuraba slips a jab and a cross from Mouse.

Sakuraba is looking to land body kicks.
Mouse misses with a leg kick
and Sakuraba counters with a one-two to the body.
Mouse throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Kazushi Sakuraba is winning the standup battle so far.
Mouse swings for the body but Sakuraba moves out of range.
Mouse misses with a takedown
and Sakuraba counters with a slapping leg kick.
Sakuraba feints a jab promting Mouse to slip. Sakuraba then demonstrates his capabilities by jabbing again. Mouse slips again and ducks right into an uppercut.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Mouse thows a body shot but no joy.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Mouse ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Sakuraba moves away.
Sakuraba checks a low kick. Bone on bone - not my idea of a good time.

And that's the end of the fight!
Kazushi Sakuraba showed his dominance in that final round.
Well Sakuraba has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
