The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Thompistone misses with the combination.
Thompistone defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Matos.

Matos shoots for a takedown but Thompistone saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.

Matos stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Thompistone swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Matos is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.
Matos's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.

Matos shoots for a double leg takedown but Thompistone sprawls well. He's pushed Matos's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

A frustrated look appears on Thompistone's face as he tries to break the clinch.

Thompistone throws a nice looking combination but Matos bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.

The fighters are starting to get sweaty, which will make takedowns a bit more tricky.

Matos manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back.

It looks like Bruno Matos has been cut.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Thompistone lands hard precision jab right on the jaw that stiffens Matos up and sends him tumbling to the mat! The ref grabs Thompistone from behind before he can pounce. Some folks in the crowd didn't like that stoppage, but I saw Matos's eyes roll way back in his head, he was done.
