Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, James York! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Pete Williams! The judges for this bout are Robert Twigg, Alan Glass and Cecil Peabody.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Williams takes the fight into the clinch. Williams breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
York closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage. Williams takes a knee right on the jaw!
York on the defensive, avoiding the knees to the body.
York lands a nice knee to the body. Williams working some nice short punches in the clinch. York tries to land a knee to the head but Williams blocks with his arms.

York unloads a knee to the mid-section. Williams lets out a prehistoric sounding urrrrgh. York wants a takedown.
York has had enough of the clinch but Williams keeps him there for the moment. York pulls guard successfully.
York working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Williams doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Williams manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! There's a bit of a scramble here and now York is on top in guard.
York stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Williams swivels though and keeps the full guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Williams trying to keep a closed guard but York is proving a slippery customer.
Williams keeping full guard, as York tries to pass. York is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there. York slips nicely into half guard. We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Williams can do anything to dispel that myth. York is breathing heavily. Williams lands with a few short shots to the body.
That's two minutes gone in the round. My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer. Williams works his way to full guard. Good work. York trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. York stands up out of Williams's guard for a moment - Williams manages to land a nice upkick. York trying to control the position from guard on top but Williams is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. York looking to pass the guard. The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now. Williams is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst York is controlling him. Williams really doesn't want to stay on the ground with York. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Williams gets the takedown into side control. Williams wants to lay and pray for a moment but York keeps working. York gets back to half guard. York moves into full guard.

York wants to control from the top but Williams keeps moving. York advances position into side control! York wants to stand but Williams is controlling his arm. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
James York dominated that round. The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.
Williams throws a right and a left that both miss. York closes the distance looking to clinch and Williams counters with a shoot takedown. York fights it but they end up in guard. York is looking for a triangle but Williams pushes his legs off easily.

York had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Williams is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. York Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Williams's back instead. A lull in the action here.
That's one minute gone in the round. York working for a choke but Williams is defending well. York looking to break Williams's wrist control so he can sink in the choke. Williams remaining controlled and patient though - he really has to keep calm otherwise York will wrap this one up with the rear naked choke! York is hanging on to Williams's back as he tries to escape.
York wants to control but Williams is keeping busy. York working for a RNC but it's not happening just yet. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Williams is trying to get back to his feet. He's worked up on to his knees and now he's on his feet with his head on the canvas, trying to shake York off. It looks like it's working - York slides off, much to his dismay, and we're back to standing! Williams displaying calm under pressure there.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Williams clinches. York using the Thai clinch to land knees to the body.
Williams goes for a takedown attempt but York pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
York cracks Williams with a nice right hand that draws applause from the crowd. York closes this distance looking for a takedown but Williams circles away. Williams shoots in for a takedown and gets it. York wants to get back to full guard.
That's three minutes gone in the round. York kicks off Williams and gets to his feet. Williams looks for a takedown but York sprawls well. York misses with a takedown attempt - Williams sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses. York rushes Williams and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch. York lands an elbow inside that Williams shrugs off. York breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

York throws a feint and then finishes with a kick to the body. York misses with a takedown attempt - Williams sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Williams moves into the clinch. Williams is stalling here. The referee will be looking to step in if he doesn't pick up the pace. York tries to land knees in the clinch but Williams avoids the damage to the body. York tries to land a knee to the head but misses.

The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Williams tightens his grip and picks York up, before dumping him to the ground. York manages to land in guard. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! York keeping full guard, as Williams tries to pass. Williams trying to control the position from guard on top but York is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close second round but I would say that James York will probably get the nod. That's time! Back to the action! This is the final round!

Nice takedown defense from York. No joy for Williams on that attempt. York tries to clinch up. York wants to clinch up but Williams keeps it at a distance. York staying out of range there. James York is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. York avoids a punch combination nicely.
Horrible takedown by Williams or perhaps it was just good defense by York which made him look bad.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless. Williams avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
York doesn't manage to clinch there - Williams circles away.
Williams is looking to clinch but York is avoiding it.
Williams lands with a nice body kick. Williams feints and as York raises his hands in defense, Williams changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard. York is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Williams postures up in York's guard and throws a big left but York blocks it. Williams wants to control from the top but York keeps moving. Williams is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Williams wants to stand but York has a closed guard, so he can't escape. York working a defensive guard here.
Williams must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu. Williams controls from within his opponent's guard. York is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up. Williams gets a takedown into half guard.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Williams working the head and body with strikes. York looking for submissions from an awkward position here. York is looking to improve his position.
York is not content to let Williams control the position. York wants to control but Williams is keeping busy and won't allow it. York has hold of Williams's hands but Williams slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow. Pete Williams has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Williams working York over with strikes.
And that's the end of the fight! Pete Williams comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. I think York has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
