PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Michael Knight (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jon Marshall (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Marshall has chosen Cocaine Blues as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. Michael Knight has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 5 - 0, fighting out of London, Michael Knight!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Jon Marshall!
The judges for this bout are William Gold, Phil Schofield and James Atkins.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A combination from Knight does no damage.
Marshall tries to clinch there but Knight circles away.

Marshall shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Knight manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.
Knight on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Knight tries to get out of the position.
Knight wants to stand and escape but Marshall is having none of it.
Marshall tries to stand but Knight is controlling from the bottom.
Marshall with a flurry of punches that miss.
Knight wants to stand but Marshall is controlling the position.

Marshall drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Marshall jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Marshall has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Knight is proving hard to escape from.
Knight is looking to stand up but Marshall isn't so interested in that idea.
Marshall working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Marshall postures up in Knight's guard and throws a big left but Knight blocks it.
Marshall trying to control but Knight is working from the bottom.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Jon Marshall hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.
Knight misses with the combination.
Marshall tries to clinch but Knight moves out of range.
Marshall avoids a punch combination nicely.
Knight throws a right hand that Marshall ducks under and follows up with a left that Marshall also avoids with ease.
Knight rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Marshall moves out of range and avoids them all easily.

Marshall closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Knight's guard.
Marshall trying to control but Knight is working from the bottom.
Marshall might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Knight kaven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by Jon Marshall.
Knight throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Marshall takes a punch to the jaw and another one to the bread basket.


It looks like Jon Marshall has been cut.
Knight lands an overhand left. A wild punch that just about connected.
Knight avoids a punch combination nicely.
Some wild striking there from Knight.
Knight throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Marshall takes one to the chin there.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Knight feints and then winds up with a huge right hand that connects perfectly and sends Marshall sprawling to the canvas! Marshall rolls over backwards and springs off the cage and manages to regain his footing - how acrobatic! Oh, he's still wobbly - can Knight finish him?!


Marshall is rocked!

Knight throws a series of punches but Marshall moves out of range.
Marshall is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Knight closes the distance and lands a crisp combination that knocks Marshall out cold! Marshall corner are devastated, head in hands behind our commentary position. Poor guys.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:19 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punches). Michael Knight!
A very excited looking Michael Knight made sure he remembered to thank all the fans both in the arena and on the internet. He said all the coolest people spend all day on MMA websites, which got a big reaction.
