PBP Commentary |
Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Bones Jones (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Peter Parts (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Jones comes to the cage accompanied by Gimme back my bullets. Parts is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: call to prayer. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
23 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Bones Jones! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
15 - 10 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Peter Parts! The judges for this bout are Chris Saunders, Josh West and Colin Fray.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Parts dips down and scores with a jab to the body. Jones throws a jab but it's blocked by Parts. Parts moves out of range of the strikes. Parts throws an overhand right that lands on Jones's shoulder, as Jones tries to avoid the shot. The crowd cheers as Parts lands an impressive looking overhand right. Jones doesn't seem phased though.
It looks like Bones Jones has been cut. A looping hook to the body misses from Parts. Jones does a little dance to reset his feet. A cross from Jones lands. Some wild striking there from Parts.
Jones thuds a mid kick into his opponent's body. That will wear on Parts if he has to take too many more of those.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Parts checks a low kick from Jones. Jones ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Parts moves away. Jones throws a leg kick but Parts sees it coming and moves out of range. Jones takes a jab on the nose there. A little bit of blood seems to be coming out. Hopefully that won't affect his breathing.
That's one minute gone in the round. Parts walks into a left hand. Parts misses with an uppercut
and Jones counters with a head kick. That will keep Parts thinking before he tries any more sloppy attacks! The sound of bone on bone echoes around the arena as Parts checks a leg kick. Parts misses with a right hand and Jones counters with a single leg into guard. Parts didn't expect that. Jones sitting in guard, not really doing much. Jones stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Parts swivels though and keeps the full guard. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Jones throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Parts works some decent striking defense from the bottom. Parts keeping moving, preventing Jones from controlling successfully. Parts really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Jones. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Jones stands up over Parts, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head. Parts keeping moving, preventing Jones from controlling successfully. Parts utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound. Jones engaging in some classic timewasting tactics. Parts keeping moving, preventing Jones from controlling successfully.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Bones Jones. Jones throws the kick towards the body but Parts avoids it.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Jones walks forward and throws out a flicking leg kick. Parts checks it nicely though, as he moves to the side. Jones cracks Parts with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business. Parts tries a head kick but it misses.

Jones misses with a left hand letting Parts counter with a right hand. Jones waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract Parts. A solid body kick from Jones. Parts uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Jones. Parts lands a left and a right that send Jones crashing to the mat, dazed. Parts thinks about following him to the mat but decides to wave him back up to his feet!
Jones is rocked! The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Ouch! a nice leg kick from Parts, right into the meat.
Oh Jones is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!! Parts darts in and lands a big hook, right on the button! Jones's legs crumble underneath him as he falls to the canvas! The ref tackles Parts before he gets to land any more shots to his stricken foe.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:55 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Peter Parts! Peter Parts spent the whole post fight interview bigging himself up. It didn't go down that well with the fans after a while as they thought it was a bit arrogant.
