Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
4 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Keyo Mizugaki! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Hussain Balldeep! The judges for this bout are Ian Loll, Elvis Blanc and Robert Douchet.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Balldeep lands a jab followed by a nice looking cross.
It looks like Keyo Mizugaki has been cut. Balldeep throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle. Balldeep is looking to take this fight into the clinch. This has been an exciting period of action! Oooh a lovely combination from Balldeep sends Mizugaki down but not out. Balldeep dives into side control looking to finish.
Mizugaki is rocked! Balldeep decides to stand back up. Balldeep wants to clinch and Mizugaki counters with a nice double leg into guard. Balldeep pushes Mizugaki off and gets back to his feet.
Balldeep wants to clinch but Mizugaki slips to the side and Mizugaki counters into the clinch. Nicely done. Balldeep gets double underhooks and manages to take the fight to the ground. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Mizugaki bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Balldeep's guard. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Balldeep can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Mizugaki controls the pace. Mizugaki stands and throws Balldeep's legs to the side, diving into side control. Mizugaki lands a knee to the body and a forearm to the face. A lull in the action here. Balldeep is trying to buck Mizugaki off.
That's one minute gone in the round. Balldeep looks gassed! Mizugaki cracks Balldeep with an elbow. That is naaassty.
It looks like Hussain Balldeep has been cut. Mizugaki taking a breather here. Mizugaki lands an elbow. Mizugaki has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Balldeep being controlled for a moment. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
That's two minutes gone in the round. Balldeep is trying to get back to his feet. Mizugaki advances nicely into full mount. Mizugaki breaks from Balldeep's wrist control and lands an elbow. Mizugaki takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though. Mizugaki lands a heavy elbow.
The cut above Hussain Balldeep's eye is starting to cause him problems now.
The referee calls the doctor in to look at Hussain Balldeep's cut. Oh no, the doctor has called an end to the bout!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:49 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Cut). Keyo Mizugaki! After the fight, Keyo Mizugaki was humble in paying tribute to his opponent but made it clear he wants to go on to bigger and better things. It seemed to go down well with the crowd who cheered him loudly.
