Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Marcus Wood (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jaer Emilson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Fingers crossed for an exciting fight - I'm sure both fighters are looking for a nice under the table bonus!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Marcus Wood! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Jaer Emilson! The judges for this bout are Tarja Halkonen, Marco Blurström and Matti Vanhoillinen.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Emilson moves out of range of the body kick. Wood tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Emilson paws at him with a jab and circles away. Emilson throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Wood was covering up waiting for the punch and Emilson finishes the takedown easily into guard. Emilson tries to stand but Wood is controlling from the bottom. Emilson is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact. Wood is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move. Wood prevents Emilson from improving his position. Wood wants to get back to his feet.

Emilson is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though. The fighters are battling for position here. Emilson manages to regain full guard. Nice work. Wood stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Emilson swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Emilson keeping moving, preventing Wood from controlling successfully. Emilson has Wood pulled in close to control his posture. Emilson is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Emilson wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.
It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground. Wood takes a shot to the body in his stride.

Emilson shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Wood pinned against the cage. Wood gets the underhooks and manages to circle away. Emilson looks gassed! Emilson fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt. Emilson shoots in for a double leg but Wood sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy. Jaer Emilson seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Wood with a body punch. A glancing blow.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Wood stuffs the takedown attempt from Emilson. Emilson gets slowly back to his feet. Wood is looking to clinch but Emilson is avoiding it.
Emilson closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard. Wood works his way to full guard. Good work. Wood wants to sweep here but Emilson controlling him for the moment. Wood throwing some rather feeble looking strikes off his back.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Emilson is squirming around, avoiding Wood's attempts to control the action. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Emilson is looking to get to half guard. Emilson really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Wood. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Wood has hold of Emilson's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Emilson manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.

Wood wants to take a breather but Emilson is having none of it. The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action! Emilson flails away from the bottom but he's not doing any damage.
Both fighters really going for it on the ground here! Emilson is trying to stand up here but Wood is controlling him well. We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Emilson can do anything to dispel that myth. Emilson tries to get to full guard but Wood has control of the leg. Wood is thwarting Emilson's attempts to control the position. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
A close round but Jaer Emilson will probably get the nod. That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.
Emilson shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Emilson was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure! Emilson landing shots from mount. Wood takes a big shot to the head but keeps on trying to improve his position. Wood regains half guard. Emilson is scoring with some nice ground and pound from the dominant position. Jaer Emilson has got the better of the ground game so far. Emilson stands up from Wood's guard - Emilson perhaps looking for a knockout. Emilson will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts. Emilson is breathing heavily.

Emilson manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat. Wood throws a quick head kick that skims the top of Emilson's head. Emilson shoots in but no luck this time. Wood lands a slapping body shot.

Marcus Wood dominated that second round. The cut man is working on Jaer Emilson's cut. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!
Wood tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion. Wood dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Emilson. That did some damage! Wood tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in the close the distance. Emilson manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat. Marcus Wood is winning the standup battle so far. Emilson closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Wood did well to prevent Emilson getting side control. Emilson stalling. Emilson lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears. Wood is trying to control but can't.
Emilson perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Emilson takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired. Emilson stands, ready to strike. The ref makes him back up and allows Wood to get to his feet. Emilson scores with a decent looking hook. Emilson rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Wood moves out of range and avoids them all easily. Emilson looks for a takedown but Wood sprawls well.

Emilson drops his hands momentarily and Wood takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head. Emilson throws a series of punches but Wood moves out of range. Wood looks to score with a combo but nothing lands. Emilson closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Emilson lands in his opponent's guard. Wood is looking for a triangle but Emilson pushes his legs off easily.

Emilson has his front leg slapped to the side - a nice low kick landing there from Wood. Wood throws a nice looking combination but Emilson bobs and weaves to avoid any damage. Emilson cracks a nice hook into Wood's ribs. Horrible takedown by Emilson or perhaps it was just good defense by Wood which made him look bad. Wood fails with an attempt to clinch.
