Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Pitagoras Euclides! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
5 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Ching Ling! The judges for this bout are Thiago Cunha, Luis Engracia and Seu Braga.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Euclides closes this distance looking for a takedown but Ling circles away. Ling shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away. Euclides tries to hold on but Ling postures up. Euclides is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Ling is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Ling looking to finish with strikes here!
Ling sends his fist crashing into the mat - the crowd let out a collective ooooooh. Let's hope he's not broken it! Ling looking to control but Euclides is working nicely, looking to advance position himself. Euclides is looking to improve his position but Ling isn't that keen on the idea. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Ling wants to control but Euclides has made it back to half guard. Nice work.
That's one minute gone in the round. Ling missing with some ground and pound from the half guard. Euclides is trying to stand back up but Ling is controlling him
Ling drops an elbow to the side of Euclides's head. Euclides is trying to get back to full guard. Ling with the ground and pound but Euclides uses the opportunity to regain guard. Euclides keeping moving, preventing Ling from controlling successfully. Ling postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Euclides is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Ling, into his guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Ling is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
Ling controls Euclides momentarily but Euclides frees himself. Euclides sitting in guard here, content to control. Both fighters really going for it on the ground here! Ling keeping moving, preventing Euclides from controlling successfully. Ling looking for a guillotine here but Euclides defends easily.
Euclides working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage. Euclides slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Ling working for submissions but it's allowed Euclides to get to half guard.
Euclides wants to take a breather but Ling is having none of it. Ling flails away from the bottom but he's not doing any damage.
Euclides is working for a submission here. He's got hold of the far side arm and he's looking for a kimura. He's cranking on the arm and he's got it! Ling is tapping out! Ouch, that looked like it hurt!
