PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Frank Castle (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Lewis Ridgeon (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Castle comes to the cage accompanied by Biohazard- Punishment. Ridgeon has chosen who let the dogs out as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. Lewis Ridgeon will no doubt be looking to use his reach advantage to good effect.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Frank Castle!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 1, fighting out of London, Lewis Ridgeon!
The judges for this bout are Steven Brown, Chris Edwards and William Gold.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Castle gets in close and instigates a clinch.

Ridgeon breaks from the clinch.
Castle moving in and out of range nicely, whilst landing the scoring shot.
No joy there for Castle, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Castle misses with a takedown
enabling Ridgeon to counter with a crisp jab.


It looks like Frank Castle has been cut.
Castle's corner calls for a 1, 2 combination and Castle duly obliges.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Castle takes the fight into the clinch.
Both guys are working to get underhooks.
Castle tries to pull guard but Ridgeon won't allow it.
Castle tries to throw a body punch but Ridgeon avoids it by throwing Castle back against the cage.
Castle tries a shoulder strike but it doesn't do any damage.

Castle gets a nice trip takedown into half guard.

Castle thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
Castle is pressing down on Ridgeon's thigh, looking to free his foot. Ridgeon is holding on for now.
Castle throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
Ridgeon is concentrating on defense, preventing Castle from advancing position.
Ridgeon wants to control but Castle is keeping busy and won't allow it.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Castle might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Castle accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Ridgeon has Castle pulled in close to control his posture.
Castle is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Castle wants to pass the guard but Ridgeon is keeping the position.

There's a bit of a scramble here and now Ridgeon is on top in guard.
Castle has momentary wrist control but Ridgeon slips an elbow through the middle.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

The cut man is working on Frank Castle's cut.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.

Frank Castle overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Castle is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Ridgeon has his hands clasped together around Castle's back. He's all about the action.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Horrible takedown by Castle or perhaps it was just good defense by Ridgeon which made him look bad.
Castle tries for a takedown but Ridgeon sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Frank Castle. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Ridgeon unloads a knee to the mid-section.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Castle using the Thai plumb to throw knees but Ridgeon has his back arched nicely, preventing the strike.
Castle has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Ridgeon is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.
Castle has dropped down and is looking to force the takedown but it's defended by Ridgeon after a bit of a struggle.

Ridgeon manages to break the clinch.

Ridgeon clinches up with Castle and pushes him back against the cage.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
An uppercut on the inside fails to land for Castle.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Ridgeon is working hard here but doesn't seem to be able to control effectively, up against the cage.
Castle is trying to drag Ridgeon to the mat but Ridgeon just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.

A close second round but Lewis Ridgeon will probably get the nod - 10:9.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! This is the final round!



Ridgeon closes the distance and pushes Castle back into the cage.
Castle wants to take the fight to the mat but Ridgeon manages to get underhooks and keep the fight in the clinch.

Frank Castle seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Castle moves into range and throws a lovely three punch combination.
Ridgeon displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Castle.

Castle drives through and clinches with Ridgeon against the cage.

Castle has moved round to his opponent's back and is looking for a suplex! Oh snap! He's tossed Ridgeon clear over his head and slammed him to the mat!
Castle has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Ridgeon wants to control his opponent's hands but Castle gets his hands free.

Castle is striking from the back but Ridgeon escapes and manages to recover to half guard.

Castle is looking to work some ground and pound but Ridgeon has wrist control.
Castle stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Ridgeon swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Castle is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Castle throws a strike but Ridgeon rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.

Ridgeon working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Castle's head.

Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Castle tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in the close the distance. Ridgeon manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.

Ridgeon closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Castle quickly recovers to half guard.

Ridgeon is looking to stall here but Castle recovers full guard.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Castle is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

I would just about give that final round to Lewis Ridgeon.
I think Ridgeon has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
