Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between George Brown (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mahatma Gandhi (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The key to victory for George Brown has got to be keeping the fight on the feet.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 3 - 0, fighting out of New York, George Brown!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 3 - 0, fighting out of New York, Mahatma Gandhi !
The judges for this bout are Eddie Farnsworth, Franklyn Lucas and David Schapiro.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gandhi on the wrong end of a vicious looking body shot.
Brown tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Gandhi swats away the attempt to clinch by Brown.
Brown displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Gandhi .
Brown tries to close the distance and clinch but Gandhi swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Gandhi shoots in looking for a takedown. Brown tries to sprawl out of it but Gandhi keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Brown manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Gandhi throws a combination. Brown tries to block but a couple of punches get through.
Horrible takedown by Gandhi or perhaps it was just good defense by Brown which made him look bad.
George Brown has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Mahatma Gandhi .

Gandhi has closed the distance and engaged Brown in a clinch.
Gandhi drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Brown gets the underhooks and prevents it.
Gandhi changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Brown fights it off and pushes away nicely.
Gandhi blocks a head kick by Brown.

Gandhi takes an elbow to the temple.


It looks like Mahatma Gandhi has been cut.
Brown scores with a knee to the head.
Gandhi wants to take the fight to the mat but Brown manages to get underhooks and keep the fight in the clinch.

Brown throws a vicious knee straight up the middle but Gandhi blocks it with crossed arms.

Brown breaks the clinch.
Brown tries to clinch there but Gandhi circles away.
Brown throws a chopping leg kick but Gandhi manages to avoid taking any serious damage.
Gandhi moves out of range as Brown throws a body kick.

Gandhi feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
Gandhi not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Mahatma Gandhi was stalling too much, according to the referee.

Gandhi will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Brown throws a jab but it's blocked by Gandhi .
Brown looks to score with a jab to the body but Gandhi is just out of range.

A slow jab from Brown misses its intended target.

Gandhi shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Brown manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.

Gandhi tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Gandhi has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

Gandhi wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Brown, who protects the arm well.
Brown is looking to reverse the position.

Brown looks to move to half guard but instead Gandhi has passed into mount! Damn!
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Brown is looking to improve his position but Gandhi isn't that keen on the idea.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Brown is bucking up trying to escape but Gandhi cracks him with another couple of good strikes.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.


Gandhi takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it.
Brown throws a head kick that connects with a bit of head and a bit of hand.
Brown with a nice looking leg kick. You could hear that one land in a back row.

Brown moves into the clinch.
Gandhi has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Brown is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.
Brown misses with a knee to the head.
Gandhi jumps guard but Brown turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing.

Brown working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Gandhi doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Gandhi manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Brown is looking for a triangle here but Gandhi uses the submission attempt to pass into side control.
Brown takes a couple of big shots there - the referee warns him that he has to defend himself better.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Gandhi is keen to just control but Brown is a slippery customer.

Gandhi is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Brown is just riding it out for now. Gandhi eventually gives up the hold.

Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin! So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.


Gandhi shoots in looking for a takedown. Brown tries to sprawl out of it but Gandhi keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Brown manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Gandhi tries to score a power double leg takedown but Brown sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Gandhi somewhat.

Brown pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Brown will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
