PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Vit Tu (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jiga Ji (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Tu's ring entrance music is that housewives' favourite, Blanket on the ground. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 14 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Vit Tu!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 8 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Jiga Ji!
The judges for this bout are Saam Ante, Radbod Blank and Paulsen Ambrosius.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Tu misses the jab.
Tu takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness.
Ji fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Ji throws a right and a left that both miss.

Ji shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Ji was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.

Ji looking for an armbar but decides to keep the dominant position instead.
Tu is in a horrible position here, under a barrage of strikes, he's managing to avoid any damage.
Tu sneaks a leg back under and regains half guard and is working straight away to try and get back to guard. He hasn't managed just yet though.
Ji slips a nice elbow through Tu's hands, connecting with Tu's forehead.
Tu manages to get to full guard.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Tu wants to sweep here but Ji controlling him for the moment.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Tu working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Ji doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Ji manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Ji forces his way into half guard.
Tu gets back to full guard.
Ji working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Tu is on top in guard.
Ji keeping full guard, as Tu tries to pass.
Tu will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Tu passes Ji's left leg - he's now in half guard.

Ji is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Tu pulls his head out easily.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Ji manages to get to full guard.
Tu sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Ji's guard.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Tu working Ji over with strikes.


It looks like Jiga Ji has been cut.
Ji tries to roll over but Tu keeps him under control.
Tu trying to pass the guard but Ji defending well.
The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Tu passes to side control.
Ji struggling a bit here.
Ji tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Tu scores with a couple of nice shots to the head there. The referee takes a look at Ji to see if he's OK.
Ji stops Tu from passing to mount.
Tu in side control lands a nice looking series of punches and elbows.


That has opened up Jiga Ji's cut even more.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Ji is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Tu off and has taken his back!
Tu breaks Ji's hooks off and manages to turn into his guard.
Tu scores with a decent looking elbow strike.
Tu is pushing down on Ji's leg trying to pass to half guard. Ji is fighting to maintain full guard but Tu has managed to sneak the leg through.

The fighters are battling for position here. Ji manages to regain full guard. Nice work.
Tu postures up in Ji's guard and throws a big left but Ji blocks it.
Ji keeping full guard, as Tu tries to pass.
Tu works a leg free and moves into half guard.
Ji tries to roll over but Tu keeps him under control.
Ji wants to control but Tu is keeping busy.
Tu seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.


The cut above Jiga Ji's eye is starting to cause him problems now.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Tu moves into full mount! Ji won't be happy about that!
Tu scoring with strikes but Ji is staying in there.


Jiga Ji's cut is absolute horrible now. This looks like something out of a horror film with blood covering both fighters.

The referee calls the doctor in to look at Jiga Ji's cut. Oh no, the doctor has called an end to the bout!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:29 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Cut). Vit Tu!
A relieved looking Vit Tu thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
