PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between TimeTo Tap (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Renzo DeSilka (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). DeSilka has chosen International Love by Pitbull as his entrance music. Renzo DeSilka will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, TimeTo Tap!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Renzo DeSilka!
The judges for this bout are Micheangelo Fripello, Colin Fray and Paul Gruel.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Horrible takedown by DeSilka or perhaps it was just good defense by Tap which made him look bad.
DeSilka tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Tap swivels and escapes.
DeSilka dives in and grabs Tap's left leg, looking for a takedown. Tap pushes down on DeSilka's head and hops out.
TimeTo Tap has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Renzo DeSilka.
Tap leaves DeSilka with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
DeSilka shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Tap as he jumps to the side.
Tap swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Tap throws a right hand that DeSilka ducks under and follows up with a left that DeSilka also avoids with ease.
DeSilka shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Tap defends it nicely.
Tap stuffs the takedown.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
DeSilka shoots and misses
and Tap counters with a nice body shot.

Tap drives through with a takedown into DeSilka's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position.
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.

DeSilka had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Tap defends it easily.

DeSilka is looking for a triangle but Tap pushes his legs off easily.

DeSilka looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Tap wants to pass the guard but DeSilka is keeping the position.

Tap avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
DeSilka keeping full guard, as Tap tries to pass.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

DeSilka has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Tap can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

DeSilka looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Tap trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
DeSilka trying to control the position.
Tap is pushing down on DeSilka's leg trying to pass to half guard. DeSilka is fighting to maintain full guard but Tap has managed to sneak the leg through.
DeSilka makes his way to full guard. A much better position for DeSilka.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Tap stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. DeSilka swivels though and keeps the full guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Tap missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.
Both fighters really going for it on the ground here!
DeSilka manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!
Tap is in a horrible position here, under a barrage of strikes, he's managing to avoid any damage.
Tap is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
Tap is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.

DeSilka looking to secure an arm triangle but Tap defends it well.
Tap wants to control but DeSilka is having none of it.
Tap is looking to improve his position but DeSilka isn't that keen on the idea.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
DeSilka throws an elbow from mount that misses. Lucky escape for Tap because DeSilka loaded up on that one.

DeSilka with some aggressive grappling here. He's looking for submissions here, rather than waiting for the opportunity to counter.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Renzo DeSilka dominated that round.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


A punch combination from Tap misses.
A looping hook to the body misses from Tap. DeSilka does a little dance to reset his feet.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Tap throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped

and DeSilka counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.

Tap looking to work for a kimura from the bottom.
Tap is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Tap actively working from the bottom here.
DeSilka is trying to control. Tap wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.
DeSilka thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Tap's head.
DeSilka content to sit in half guard and control for a moment.
DeSilka passes to full mount!
Tap holding onto his opponent's waist for dear life, as DeSilka tries to land some strikes to get him to release his grip.
DeSilka is trying to take his opponent's back.
Tap is in all sorts of trouble here.
DeSilka content just to control the position here.
DeSilka throws an elbow from mount that misses. Lucky escape for Tap because DeSilka loaded up on that one.

Tap wants to hold on but DeSilka pushes him away.
Tap slips a leg in and gets back to half guard.

DeSilka seems to be working for a kimura but Tap defends the submission attempt.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
DeSilka uses his free foot to push down on Tap's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Tap.

DeSilka looks like he's working for a submission but he's not found anything just yet.
DeSilka looking to finish Tap with some ground and pound. This is bad for Tap!
DeSilka trying to control but he's not successful this time.
DeSilka landing strikes, looking to finish!
Tap can't escape the position.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

DeSilka is working on an americana here. Ooh, that looks pretty nasty! Nope, Tap has managed to escape the submission attempt.
DeSilka works his way to his opponent's back.

DeSilka is working the back position looking for the choke. Oh, he's slid into an armbar! Beautiful transition and Tap taps out! Fantastic Jiu Jitsu from DeSilka.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:34 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Renzo DeSilka!
Renzo DeSilka was full of energy after the big win and talked about how he thinks he can do big things in this sport. The crowd were appreciative of his determination to succeed.
