The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
cj shoots in looking for a takedown. Salmi tries to sprawl out of it but cj keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Salmi manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
cj shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Salmi is trying to defend but cj finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.
cj thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Salmi's head.
Salmi gets back to full guard.
Salmi pulls cj in close to prevent any damage.
cj might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Salmi is trying to control the position from the bottom.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Salmi can do anything to dispel that myth.
Salmi is working for submissions here. He's thrown up his legs looking for a triangle but cj frees his head nicely. Oh but Salmi has switched to an armbar! cj is tapping furiously! Lovely submission there!
