Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Dante Durant (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and John Goldman (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Dante Durant!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, John Goldman!
The judges for this bout are Micheangelo Fripello, Paul Gruel and Ryoma Takatsuka.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Durant throws a series of punches but Goldman avoids them all with ease.

Durant closes the distance and clinches.
Durant tries a shoulder strike but it doesn't do any damage.
Durant lands a hook that snaps the head of Goldman backwards.
Goldman looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now.

Goldman is working on a single leg takedown against the ropes. Durant can't fight it off and eventually Goldman manages to take the fight to the floor. Durant looks annoyed but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Durant on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Durant tries to get out of the position.
Durant has control of Goldman's left arm, preventing Goldman from doing any damage.
Goldman postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Goldman working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.

Durant really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Goldman wants to control from the top but Durant keeps moving.

Goldman wants to stand but Durant is controlling his posture from full guard.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.

Goldman shoots in and bounces Durant off the ropes to secure the takedown into guard.
Goldman wants to control from the top but Durant keeps moving.
Durant wants to stand but Goldman is controlling the position.

Durant tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Durant keeping moving, preventing Goldman from controlling successfully.

OK we're going to have a standup here. John Goldman hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.
Goldman fails with the takedown

and Durant counters with a single leg into guard. Goldman didn't expect that.
The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.
Goldman wants to sweep but no luck.
Durant has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Durant wants to stand but Goldman has a closed guard, so he can't escape.

Durant is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Goldman is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Goldman has escaped and now he's on top!

Goldman wants to control from the top but Durant keeps moving.
Durant pulls Goldman in close to prevent any damage.
Durant utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.

We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.

The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. John Goldman wasn't active enough on the ground.
Durant stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Durant wants it to stay on the feet.

Dante Durant has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of John Goldman.

Durant thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Goldman wants to sweep but no luck.

A close round but John Goldman will probably get the nod.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


Durant fails to land with a series of punches.
Goldman throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Durant's waist but Durant gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Goldman off to one side.
Durant shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Goldman as he avoids it easily.

and Durant counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.
Goldman tries to roll over but Durant keeps him under control.
Durant knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Goldman on the ground.
Goldman is trying to stand back up but Durant is controlling him
Goldman is staying active underneath Durant, who seems content to just control the action from this position.

Durant is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Goldman doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Durant.
Durant throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves.

Durant prevents Goldman from improving his position.
Goldman wants to get back to his feet.
Goldman is breathing heavily.
Goldman works his way to full guard. Good work.
Goldman looking to control.

Goldman is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Durant defends well.

Goldman wants to get back to his feet but Durant is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
Durant wants to get up but he can't break Goldman's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.

Durant drops back looking for a leg! Goldman is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Goldman manages to kick Durant off! Durant jumps back into Goldman's guard.

Goldman tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Durant tries to stand but Goldman is controlling from the bottom.

Durant decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Goldman, up you get!
Nice takedown defense from Durant. No joy for Goldman on that attempt.
Dante Durant has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of John Goldman.

Goldman gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Durant to score an easy takedown into full guard.

Goldman pushes Durant off for just long enough to get back to his feet. Very athletic spring there.

Goldman gets tackled into the ropes by Durant. Durant maintains the clinch.
Durant changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Goldman fights it off and pushes away nicely.

and Durant counters with a three punch combo that has Goldman backing up. Goldman nods at Durant to acknowledge the strikes.
Durant scores with a sloppy right hand. Goldman should have avoided that one.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Goldman shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Durant pinned against the ropes. Durant gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Dante Durant is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Durant scores with a jab. Goldman acknowledges it with a nod of the head.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Dante Durant dominated that second round.
That's time! Back to the action! This is the final round!



Durant moves into the clinch.
Durant is pressed up against the ropes. Goldman has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Durant down to the mat. Durant avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.

Durant shoots in and gets a takedown into Goldman's guard.
Goldman wants to sweep here but Durant controlling him for the moment.
Goldman is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.
Goldman is trying to control the position but Durant postures up.

Goldman takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

Durant stops Goldman from standing up.
Goldman not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.

Goldman is working an open guard so Durant takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.
Goldman doesn't succeed with the takedown
and Durant counters with a series of strikes. Goldman will be more careful next time no doubt.

Durant gets a takedown into half guard.

Durant is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.

Durant is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Goldman sees it coming and defends easily.
Goldman moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.
Goldman not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.

Durant gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.

Durant manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Goldman on his heels. He'll look to pass Goldman's guard now, I'm sure.
Durant wants to control from the top but Goldman keeps moving.

Durant postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Goldman is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Durant, into his guard.

Goldman is in a good position here but he's just trying to control... And he's not even managing to do that successfully.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by John Goldman.
Durant fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Goldman avoids it really well and circles away.

And that's the end of the fight!
Dante Durant showed his dominance in that final round.
Well Durant has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
