Bookem comes to the cage accompanied by Solitaire Unraveling. Penn has chosen Loser as his entrance music. Bullet Bookem could well score a knockout today. He has the power to get to Paul Penn's chin.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Penn fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Bookem manages to avoid it.
Bookem looks to land a left hand but Penn moved out of range nicely.
Bookem looks to land a right hand but Penn moved out of range.
Penn throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Bookem stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.
Bookem bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Penn's head backwards.
Bookem lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Penn at a distance.
Bookem misses with a series of wild punches.
Bookem avoids the body shot from Penn.

Bookem slips a jab from Penn.
Bookem throws a shot from downtown. Penn moves away and avoids it.
Bookem slaps away a takedown attempt from Penn, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Bookem misses with a straight left.
Penn ducks under a wild hook from Bookem.
Penn walks into a straight right hand from Bookem.

Penn misses with a takedown attempt - Bookem sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Penn takes a big uppercut there. He seems a bit wobbly but no, he's OK.
Bookem cracks Penn with a right hand to the side of the head.

Penn gets caught napping as Bookem dives in and scores a takedown. Penn manages to retain guard.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.

Penn escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Bookem gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Penn throws a couple of shots from the bottom but they don't land.

Bookem is looking to work some ground and pound but Penn has wrist control.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Penn looking for a guillotine here but Bookem defends easily.
Penn is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Bookem is nestled in close to Penn, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.
Penn wants to control but Bookem is keeping busy.
Bookem takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Bookem is scoring with some nice ground and pound from the dominant position.

Penn looking to sweep using the butterfly guard but Bookem puts pay to that idea as he passes nicely into half guard.
Bookem is looking to take a break and control but Penn is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Bookem working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Penn moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Bookem accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Bookem is in close to Penn's body, working some short punches and elbows.

Bookem is working Penn over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

Bookem is pawing at Penn, trying to feel the distance before throwing out a cross that crashes into Penn's nose. Penn is badly hurt! Bookem pounces, throwing wild strikes as both fighters end up on the ground! Penn tries desperately to hold on but Bookem is relentless in his assault! As Penn receives an ever increasing number of unanswered strikes the referee pulls Bookem away and this one is in the books!
