PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Clyde Aguilar (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and David Reily (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The crowd seem to be enjoying Reily's choice of entrance music: White Trash Party. We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Clyde Aguilar!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, David Reily!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Franklin, Gwen Towbar and Robert Twigg.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Reily throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Aguilar's waist but Aguilar gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Reily off to one side.
Aguilar takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.
Reily throws out a leg kick but Aguilar moves out of range and Reily only half commits.
Reily lands with a nice combination. Aguilar backs away looking to recover.

Aguilar gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here.
Reily tries to land knees in the clinch but Aguilar avoids the damage to the body.
Aguilar jumps guard but Reily turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing.

Aguilar escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Aguilar fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Reily avoids it really well and circles away.
Reily tries to clinch up.
Reily lands a jab followed by a nice looking cross.
Aguilar looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Reily is fending him off so far but Aguilar persists. Nope, Reily circles away and we're back to standing.

Reily finds nothing but air with that leg kick attempt.

Aguilar wants to clinch up but Reily keeps it at a distance.
Aguilar shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Reily as he avoids it easily.
Reily misses with a double jab.
Reily throws a series of punches but Aguilar avoids them all with ease.
Reily changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Aguilar tries to avoid it but Reily manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Aguilar to the ground. Aguilar escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

Aguilar moves into the clinch successfully.

Aguilar escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Aguilar shoots in looking for a takedown. Reily tries to sprawl out of it but Aguilar keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Reily manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Aguilar shoots in for a takedown but Reily shows good takedown defense.
Reily slaps away a takedown attempt from Aguilar, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Aguilar shoots in for a takedown but Reily shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Aguilar is breathing heavily.

Reily closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Aguilar did well to prevent Reily getting side control.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Reily throws a big right hand that misses.
Aguilar has a closed guard, preventing Reily from standing up.
Reily trying to control the position from guard on top but Aguilar is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Reily wants to get up but he can't break Aguilar's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.

David Reily has forced the referee to step in and restart the fight on the feet.
Reily ducks down and throws a hook to the body.
Reily is looking to clinch but Aguilar is avoiding it.

Reily moves out of range as Aguilar throws a body kick.
Reily shoots for a double leg takedown but Aguilar sprawls well. He's pushed Reily's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

A head kick misses from Reily.
Crunch! Aguilar slams his shin into Reily's torso.
Aguilar lands a head kick. Reily smiles back at him and beckons him forward.


It looks like David Reily has been cut.

Reily must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Aguilar working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Reily doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Reily manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet.

Horrible takedown by Reily or perhaps it was just good defense by Aguilar which made him look bad.
Reily moves in looking to clinch but Aguilar pushes him off.

David Reily comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Reily has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
