The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Augusto takes the fight into the clinch.
Augusto manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.

That was a close round but I would say that Royce Gracie will probably get the nod.

Gracie avoids a lazy jab quite easily.

Gracie is not content to let Augusto control the position.
Royce Gracie overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Augusto seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Gracie does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

Gracie is desperately trying to improve his position but Augusto has a good base and remains in mount.

Augusto lands an elbow that was bordering on illegal but the referee lets it go with a warning.
BOOM! Augusto connects with a massive shot to the dome!

Gracie has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Augusto jumps to side control looking for an arm triangle but Gracie manages to avoid the submission attempt.

Gracie tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Augusto wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
Augusto connects with a decent looking elbow from side control that caused Gracie some visible discomfort.

You can see the frustration on Gracie's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Gracie has hold of a guillotine but he's not going to be able to crank on it really with only half guard, so it's no trouble for Augusto. Oh but Gracie has got full guard now! Oh boy! This one could be over very soon! Augusto goes limp - he's gone! Gracie jumps up and celebrates with the crowd - fantastic submission finish!
