Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Thiago Alvez!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

1 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Matt Rodrigo!
The judges for this bout are Thiago Cunha, Paulo Santos and Emerson Jorge.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Alvez keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Alvez tries for a takedown but Rodrigo circles away easily
and Rodrigo counters with a slapping leg kick.
Alvez bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Alvez happy to just control the position for now.
Rodrigo really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Alvez. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
You can see the frustration on Rodrigo's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Rodrigo is looking to finish the fight by rear naked choke. Alvez knows exactly what he's got planned though, so he's defending well. Maybe a few strikes would soften Alvez for a finish.

Rodrigo shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Rodrigo was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
