The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Metaxa dodges the punch combination from Pinto.
Horrible takedown by Pinto or perhaps it was just good defense by Metaxa which made him look bad.

and Pinto counters with a nice low kick that buckles Metaxa's knee momentarily.
Metaxa tries to clinch there but Pinto circles away.

With the two fighters working up against the cage, Metaxa just misses with a elbow thrown towards Pinto's brow.
Pinto tightens his grip and picks Metaxa up, before dumping him to the ground. Metaxa manages to land in guard.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.
Pinto wants to control from the top but Metaxa keeps moving.

Metaxa is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Pinto is controlling him.

Metaxa is looking to stand up but Pinto isn't so interested in that idea.

Pinto has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Metaxa can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
