PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Dave Casey (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Lacey Hill (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Well, I have no idea who's going to take this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Dave Casey!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Lacey Hill!
The judges for this bout are Phil Schofield, William Gold and Sam Margolis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Casey is looking to take this fight into the clinch.

Casey pushes Hill up against the cage in a clinch.

Hill gets control of Casey's arms and successfully pulls guard. Hill will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.
Casey working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
Casey won't allow Hill to sweep him here.

Hill is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Casey defends well.
Hill wants to control but instead he gets his guard passed and Casey is now in half guard.
Hill has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Casey is working away from the top position though.
Casey works his way into full mount!

Casey is in the full mount, landing strikes.
Casey really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Casey can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Hill is looking to escape.
Hill is wriggling around trying to escape.

Casey is in full mount, looking to secure a guillotine but Hill is surviving well by controlling Casey's body position as best he can.

Casey lands an elbow that was bordering on illegal but the referee lets it go with a warning.

Casey has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Casey prevents Hill from getting the reversal.

Casey stands up from mount. Strange move.
Hill shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Casey as he avoids it easily.
Hill fails with the takedown.
Hill looks gassed!
Hill tries a head kick but it misses.

Casey closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
Casey will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Casey decides to stand back up.

Casey has managed to clinch.
Hill is trying to break the clinch but Casey has him pressed against the cage.

Casey pulls Hill into guard.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Casey working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Hill.
Casey is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
Hill is trying to control but can't.

Casey stands, ready to strike. The ref makes him back up and allows Hill to get to his feet.

Casey darts in and clinches Hill up against the cage.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Casey pulls guard effortlessly.
Hill looking to sit in guard and control but Casey gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Dave Casey dominated that round.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.


Casey misses with a looping left.
Hill shoots for a takedown but Casey saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Casey misses with a two punch combination.
Hill closes this distance looking for a takedown but Casey circles away.
Casey tries to close the distance and clinch up but Hill swats him away and circles back towards the center.

Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Hill tries to score a power double leg takedown but Casey sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Hill somewhat.

Casey is looking for a takedown.
Both fighters working to control the clinch.

Hill breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Casey shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Hill as he avoids it easily.
Hill shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Casey sprawls well. Casey wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Hill gets slowly back to his feet.
Hill misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.

Hill has a takedown stuffed.
Casey fails with the takedown.
Casey fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Casey walks into a left hand.
Casey swinging wildly here.
Hill misses with a few strikes there.

Hill moves into range and clinches up with Casey.

Casey gets double underhooks and manages to take the fight to the ground.

Casey prevents Hill from getting back to his feet.
Hill is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Casey pushes down on Hill's leg and manages to get into half guard.

Casey stops Hill from getting back to his feet.
Casey is pressing down on Hill's thigh, looking to free his foot. Hill is holding on for now.

Dave Casey dominated that second round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!


Casey is looking to take this fight into the clinch.

Casey tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Hill is trying hard to land a takedown here. Casey sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.
Hill shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and Casey counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.

Casey clinches.
Hill takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Hill wants to break free but Casey has control.
Hill jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Casey walks away with a smile on his face. Hill gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
Dave Casey has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Lacey Hill.

Casey drives through and clinches with Hill against the cage.

Casey jumps into guard, dragging Hill to the mat.
Casey wants to sweep but no luck.
Hill wants to control from the top but Casey keeps moving.
Casey is trying to control the position but Hill postures up.
Casey is looking to sweep but instead, Hill has passed into half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Casey holds on for dear life, maintaining half guard for now.

Hill looks to land a strike but Casey avoids it nicely and regains full guard.

Hill wants to control from the top but Casey keeps moving.
Casey tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Casey utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Hill is looking to stand up but Casey won't let him.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Lacey Hill hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.
Casey fails in his attempt to clinch.

Hill tries to clinch up.
Casey looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Hill shoots in and drives through. Casey sprawls well.
Hill stuffs the takedown attempt from Casey. Casey gets slowly back to his feet.

Hill gets a double leg takedown into Casey's guard.
Casey looking to hit a scissor sweep but Hill is one step ahead there.
Hill must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Casey has his foot on Hill's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Hill works his way back into a safe position though.

Casey is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Hill stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Casey swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Casey has a closed guard, preventing Hill from standing up.
Hill really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Casey. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Hill wants to stand and escape but instead Casey has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard.
Lacey Hill has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Dave Casey is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.

Casey got a little sloppy there for a moment and Hill has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Casey has managed to get both his arms back between Hill's legs - danger averted.

And that's the end of the fight!
That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Dave Casey.
Well Casey has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
