Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Hadrian Barret (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and John Flare (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Hadrian Barret could well score a knockout today. He has the power to get to John Flare's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Hadrian Barret!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 13 - 22 - 0, fighting out of London, John Flare!
The judges for this bout are Richard Clark, Chris Edwards and Colin Fotheringham.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Flare tries to clinch but Barret moves out of range.
Flare tries to clinch up.
Flare shoots for a double leg takedown but Barret sprawls well. He's pushed Flare's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

Barret tries to keep at a distance but Flare has taken the fight into the clinch.
Flare gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Barret.
Barret connects with a knee to the head.
Flare blocks a body shot from Barret.
Flare is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Barret pulls him back up using the underhooks.
Barret tries a knee to the head but Flare blocks it.

Barret has hold of one of Flare's legs. Flare is fighting the takedown attempt but Barret gets the trip and lands the takedown into guard.
Flare is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Flare has Barret pulled in close to control his posture.
Barret trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.

Flare is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage.
Barret advances to half guard.
Barret is thwarting Flare's attempts to control the position.
Barret missing with some ground and pound from the half guard.

Barret is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Flare sees it coming and defends easily.
Barret prevents Flare from improving his position.

Barret is stalling here. Flare is in no mood to hang around though. He's locked up a kimura from the bottom! Barret seems to be keeping calm but he's forced to roll out of the hold and Flare has ended up in side control on the top. Nice work.

Barret wants to control but Flare postures up.
Barret sneaks back into half guard.
The fighters are battling for position here. Barret manages to regain full guard. Nice work.
Flare slips nicely into half guard.
Barret tries to kick Flare off but Flare keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.

Flare is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Flare is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.
Barret makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Barret.

Barret controls Flare momentarily but Flare frees himself.

Barret looking for submissions from the bottom but instead Flare passes into half guard.
Barret is breathing heavily.
Barret is trying to get back to full guard.
Flare is thwarting Barret's attempts to control the position.
Barret is trying to stand.
Flare looking to pass the half guard. Not this time.

Flare postures up and decides to stand up, from the half guard. The ref calls for Barret to stand up.
Barret fails with a takedown attempt from distance.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Barret shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Flare pinned against the cage. Flare gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Hadrian Barret. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Flare misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Flare throws a series of punches but Barret moves out of range.
Barret avoids a kick to the body.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Flare shoots in for a takedown but Barret shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.

Barret manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Flare on his heels. He'll look to pass Flare's guard now, I'm sure.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Hadrian Barret dominated that round.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!



The fight moves into the clinch position.
Barret is trying to maintain a safe position but Flare gets an underhook and turns Barret into the cage.

Flare gets control of Barret's arms and successfully pulls guard. Flare will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.
Flare seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.
Barret works a leg free and moves into half guard.

Barret is looking for a kimura. It's pretty deep but Flare still has the half guard so he's probably OK. Oh, Flare has exploded into a beautiful escape there and after a quick scramble, he's ended up in side control on top! Nice work!

Flare swings around for an armbar but Barret sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Flare's guard.
Barret wants to pass the guard but Flare is keeping the position.

Flare is looking for a triangle but Barret pushes his legs off easily.

Flare is breathing heavily.
Barret controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
Hadrian Barret overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Barret trying to control the position from guard on top but Flare is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Barret tries to free his leg and advance position but Flare is retaining full guard.
The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.
Flare keeping moving, preventing Barret from controlling successfully.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Hadrian Barret.
Barret tries to clinch but Flare moves out of range.

Horrible takedown by Barret or perhaps it was just good defense by Flare which made him look bad.
Flare shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Barret as he avoids it easily.
Flare closes the distance and clinches up with Barret, looking for a takedown. Flare pushes Barret against the cage but Barret circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Barret shoots in for a double leg but Flare sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Flare swings and misses with a hook to the body.

Barret gets caught flat footed, as Flare shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
Flare wants to pass the guard but Barret is keeping the position.
Barret controls Flare momentarily but Flare frees himself.
Barret is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
Flare sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Barret's guard.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Flare prevents Barret from standing back up.
Flare trying to control the pace.
Barret pushes Flare off looking to stand but Flare dives back in and keeps control.

Flare seems to be looking for submissions.

Flare is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Barret is just riding it out for now. Flare eventually gives up the hold.

Flare is looking for a kimura but Barret is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Flare to get the leverage.

Barret makes some distance and scrambles quickly back to his feet. Nice work!

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

That was a close second round but I would say that Hadrian Barret will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. This is the final round!



Barret closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Barret lands in his opponent's guard.
Barret won't allow Flare to sweep him here.

Barret is looking to advance position but Flare has hit a scissor sweep - now he's on top in mount!

Flare goes for an armbar but he's not got it… Barret turns into him and now he's in Flare's guard.

Flare thows some rabbit punches from the bottom but they don't do any damage.

Flare working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Barret doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Barret manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Flare takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

Barret stands and throws Flare's legs to the side, diving into side control.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Flare is positioning himself to get back to half guard.
Flare is letting Barret control him for a moment.

Barret throwing shots but missing, from side control.
Flare parries the strikes from Barret easily there. Barret is wary of posturing up too much because it might enable Flare to escape.

Barret has an Americana. Flare didn't react quickly enough there and he's in big trouble now! He tries to squirm out but is forced to tap! Barret is delighted and gyrates in front of the ring girls. They seem to like the attention - it'll be interesting to see if Barret hooks up with any of them at the after show party.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:44 of round 3, we have a winner by way of Submission (Americana). Hadrian Barret!
