Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
14 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Nathan Bowman! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
16 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Tony Baloney! The judges for this bout are Paulsen Ambrosius, Albert Achterberg and Aafke Stam.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Bowman throws a right hand that Baloney ducks under and follows up with a left that Baloney also avoids with ease. Bowman takes one on the chin but keeps coming.
Nathan Bowman seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Baloney will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Bowman shoots in but Baloney avoids the takedown attempt easily. Baloney looks to score with a jab to the body but Bowman is just out of range. Baloney bobs and weaves and unloads with a good uppercut. Bowman moves in looking to clinch but Baloney pushes him off. Bowman swings for the body but Baloney moves out of range.
Bowman gets in close and instigates a clinch. With the fighters clinched against the cage, Baloney creates a bit of distance for himself and scores with a nice uppercut. Baloney swings away with an uppercut that misses.
Baloney wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Bowman has him pressed against the cage. Bowman escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Bowman fails in his attempt to clinch. Bowman moves into the clinch. Bowman wants the takedown. Baloney is fighting it off but Bowman persists and manages to bring the fight to the ground, ending up in Baloney's guard against the cage. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace. Baloney keeping moving, preventing Bowman from controlling successfully.
That's one minute gone in the round. Bowman stands up from Baloney's guard - Bowman perhaps looking for a knockout. Bowman clinches up against the cage. Bowman goes for a takedown attempt but Baloney pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
A punch lands to the side of Bowman 's head but he takes it in his stride.
It looks like Nathan Bowman has been cut. Bowman rushes Baloney and presses him up against the cage. Bowman breaks the clinch.
Baloney moves into range and connects with a jab. Bowman darts in trying to clinch and Bowman takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
Bowman is rocked! The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Baloney cracks Bowman with a big right hand that sends him crashing to the floor. Baloney has the opportunity to follow him to the ground but instead he's beckoning Bowman to stand back up! Oh Bowman is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
That's two minutes gone in the round. Bowman takes a shot to the eye socket. That's gotta hurt. A decent looking cross lands there for Bowman. Baloney lands an uppercut out of nowhere! Bowman falls backwards - clearly groggy! Baloney dives in and finishes the fight with more strikes for a TKO finish!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:14 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Tony Baloney! Tony Baloney spent the whole post fight interview bigging himself up. It didn't go down that well with the fans after a while as they thought it was a bit arrogant.
