Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 3 - 0, fighting out of New York, Mateusz Wolodyjowski! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Jorik Berger! The judges for this bout are David Schapiro, Anthony Taglia and Chad Campbell.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Wolodyjowski needs to keep his hands up - Berger had a free shot at his head there. Wolodyjowski blocks a low kick nicely. Nice shot by Berger. Berger shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard. If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup. Berger is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Wolodyjowski doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Berger. Wolodyjowski is looking to escape. Berger seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Wolodyjowski does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back. Berger tries to pass the half guard into mount. Wolodyjowski knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.
That's one minute gone in the round. Berger is working for a submission of some sort.
Wolodyjowski wants to get back to his feet. Berger is looking for a kimura but Wolodyjowski is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Berger to get the leverage. Berger looking to pass the half guard. Not this time. Wolodyjowski is trying to stand back up but Berger is controlling him
Berger has freed up his trapped foot and advances to mount. Berger cracks Wolodyjowski with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Berger wants to finish this one by submission but Wolodyjowski is holding onto his waist, trying to prevent any attacks from Berger. Berger postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Wolodyjowski looks a forlorn figure.
Berger can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Wolodyjowski is looking to escape. This has been an exciting period of action! Berger landing strikes, looking to finish! Wolodyjowski somehow manages to escape the mount and get back to his feet! Berger closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Wolodyjowski to the mat! Wolodyjowski manages to get full guard. Wolodyjowski keeping full guard, as Berger tries to pass. Berger is persisting with the attempt to improve his position. Berger postures up in Wolodyjowski's guard and throws a big left but Wolodyjowski blocks it.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Berger pushes down on Wolodyjowski's leg and manages to get into half guard. Berger throwing shots but Wolodyjowski is blocking nicely. Wolodyjowski wants to get back to his feet. Berger keeping composed on the top, looking to control the action. Berger working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that. Berger throwing shots but Wolodyjowski is blocking nicely. Wolodyjowski is trying to stand.
Wolodyjowski is breathing heavily. Berger thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Wolodyjowski's head. Berger is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Berger is looking to take a break and control but Wolodyjowski is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Berger lands an elbow. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Berger tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Berger has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought! Berger wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Wolodyjowski, who protects the arm well. The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action! Berger tries to cartwheel into mount but he doesn't manage it. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Jorik Berger dominated that round. That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.
Wolodyjowski lands with a cross. Berger ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent. Berger lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Wolodyjowski at a distance.
Berger lands a head shot. Berger throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Wolodyjowski motions for Berger to come forward. Wolodyjowski throws a leg kick but it misses it's target. Wolodyjowski takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch. Wolodyjowski gets caught flat footed, as Berger shoots in with a quick takedown into guard. Wolodyjowski wants to stand and escape but Berger is having none of it. Berger advances position into side control! The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Wolodyjowski is trying to get back to his feet. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Berger tries for a kimura but Wolodyjowski is defending well. Berger is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Wolodyjowski has escaped the position, nice work there. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Wolodyjowski pushes Berger away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Berger gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control. Berger wants to control but Wolodyjowski is keeping him busy. Wolodyjowski dodges the ground and pound from Berger.
That's two minutes gone in the round. A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet. Berger throwing strikes but missing, from side control. Berger tries to cartwheel into mount but he doesn't manage it. Berger working the head and body with strikes. Wolodyjowski is trying to buck Berger off. Berger taking a breather here. Wolodyjowski managing to avoid any damage from the strikes thrown by Berger.

Berger tries to move to mount but Wolodyjowski blocks the move with his legs. Berger misses with the ground and pound. Berger passes to full mount! That's big trouble for Wolodyjowski! Berger lands with some vicious ground and pound - can Wolodyjowski hang on? Berger can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Wolodyjowski is looking to escape. Berger controlling the pace for now. Berger lands with some strikes. The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action! Berger lands with a shot to the body. Wolodyjowski pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Berger connects with a lovely right hand, straight down the pipe. A jab from Berger finds it's way through Wolodyjowski's defenses. Oh Wolodyjowski is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!! Wolodyjowski misses with a head kick.
Berger dives in and scores a takedown into Wolodyjowski's guard. Berger trying to control but Wolodyjowski is working from the bottom. Wolodyjowski seems to have got his legs back now. Berger content to stall in guard here. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Let's hope that Berger has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight. Berger pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Wolodyjowski is keeping the position for now.
That's one minute gone in the round. The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work. Wolodyjowski wants to stand and escape but Berger is having none of it. Both fighters are breathing heavily. Wolodyjowski utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound. Berger looking to pass the guard.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Wolodyjowski gets caught napping as Berger dives in and scores a takedown. Wolodyjowski manages to retain guard. Berger throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent. Wolodyjowski keeping full guard, as Berger tries to pass. Berger must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu. Wolodyjowski wants to get back to his feet but Berger is in a dominant position and won't allow it. Berger forces his way into half guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Berger seems to be working for a kimura but Wolodyjowski defends the submission attempt. Berger scores with a couple of good hammerfists. Berger performing his best blanket impression for a moment. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Berger takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists. Berger stalling. Berger trying to mount his opponent but Wolodyjowski defends it.
That's three minutes gone in the round. The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Berger lands a nice short elbow. Wolodyjowski tries to kick Berger off but Berger keeps his base steady and stays in half guard. Berger content to sit in half guard and control for a moment. Wolodyjowski is in trouble now - Berger has advanced to mount! Wolodyjowski is bucking up trying to escape but Berger cracks him with another couple of good strikes. Jorik Berger is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight. Berger controlling his opponent.

The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by Jorik Berger. Wolodyjowski misses the shot to the body. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Nice uppercut there from Berger. Berger changes levels and scores with a jab to the body. Berger lands a nice shot that snaps Wolodyjowski's head back.
Mateusz Wolodyjowski has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Berger looks to score with a combo but nothing lands. Wolodyjowski throws a front kick that sends Berger stumbling back into the cage.
And that's the end of the fight! Jorik Berger comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. Well Berger has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
