Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Carlos Mendez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Bronek Simson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Bronek Simson is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Carlos Mendez! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
5 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Bronek Simson! The judges for this bout are Yuuki Gou, Yukihiro Yamamoto and Yasuomi Hirokawa.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Mendez swinging wildly here.
Simson throws a jab but it's blocked by Mendez. Mendez throws a right hand that Simson ducks under and follows up with a left that Simson also avoids with ease. Simson throws a push kick but Mendez slaps the foot to one side. Simson is looking to clinch. Mendez swings wildly with a couple of big hooks
so Simson counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility. The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup. Simson tries to free his leg and advance position but Mendez is retaining full guard. Mendez keeping moving, preventing Simson from controlling successfully.
That's one minute gone in the round. Mendez wants to sweep but no luck.
The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Bronek Simson wasn't active enough on the ground. Mendez keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl. Mendez misses with the combination.
Simson moves in looking to clinch but Mendez pushes him off. Simson gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here. Simson breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat. Simson looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Mendez stuffs the takedown. Carlos Mendez has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Bronek Simson. Mendez throws a right and a left that both miss. Mendez circles away from the clinch attempt.
Mendez lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Simson circles away quickly and effectively. A punch combination from Mendez misses. Bronek Simson seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Simson tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion. Simson instigates a clinch. Simson misses with a shot to the kidneys.
Simson is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the cage enables Mendez to keep the fight standing. Simson manages to break the clinch.

Simson throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Mendez's waist but Mendez gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Simson off to one side. Mendez swinging wildly here.

The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Simson is trying to pull guard but Mendez turns him against the cage and we stay in the clinch. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Simson shoots for a double leg takedown but Mendez sprawls well. He's pushed Simson's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily. It looks like Bronek Simson has been cut. Simson tries to clinch there but Mendez circles away.
Simson fails with a takedown attempt. Simson misses with an uppercut
and Mendez counters with a combination of strikes to the head and body that crumple Simson! The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Mendez is pressing down on Simson's thigh, looking to free his foot. Simson is holding on for now. Mendez tries to stand and escape but Simson is controlling the position. Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Mendez in particular looking to stall. Mendez tries to pass the half guard into mount. Simson knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt. Mendez not doing much here.
That's three minutes gone in the round. If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup. Simson wants to control but Mendez is keeping busy and won't allow it.
We're going to have a standup here because Carlos Mendez wasn't active enough for the referee's liking. Simson takes a jab right on the nose. That must have hurt but he shrugs his shoulders and looks to return the favor. Simson throws a nice outside leg kick. Mendez tries to bum rush Simson with a series of wild strikes but Simson uses good footwork to avoid the assault. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Simson will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts. Simson closes the distance and pushes Mendez back into the cage. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Simson shoots in looking for a takedown but Mendez manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Simson's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away. Carlos Mendez has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Bronek Simson. Simson shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Mendez defends it nicely. Mendez displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Simson. Simson takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired. Mendez misses with a wild combination.

That has opened up Bronek Simson's cut even more. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Simson tries to clinch up. Mendez leaves Simson with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt. Simson scores with a head kick.
Simson throws a leg kick but Mendez sees it coming and moves out of range. Mendez stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Mendez wants it to stay on the feet. Simson tries to clinch up.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Mendez lands with a cross to side of his opponent's head. Mendez throws a nice looking combination but Simson bobs and weaves to avoid any damage. Simson has closed the distance and engaged Mendez in a clinch.
Simson is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though. Simson keeps control of Mendez as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks. Simson tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Mendez just stands there and leans against the cage. Mendez blocks a knee to the body. He'll have a nicely bruised forearm in the morning. Simson is trying to maintain a safe position but Mendez gets an underhook and turns Simson into the cage. Simson keeps the fight in the clinch, despite Mendez's efforts to push away.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Simson drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Simson has Mendez pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Mendez manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing. Mendez is defending well against a takedown attempt. Simson pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Mendez moves out of range of the body kick from Simson.
