PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Bill Smith (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Matthew Murt (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Murt has chosen I like to move it as his entrance music. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Bill Smith!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Matthew Murt!
The judges for this bout are Shigeki Fujiwara, Taro Takaoka and Yuuki Gou.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Murt looks shocked there as he takes a right hand to the temple.
Smith looks exhausted already! Oh dear, he should have come in in better shape than this!
Murt fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Murt moves in looking to clinch but Smith pushes him off.
Murt shoots in for a takedown but Smith shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.

Murt drives through and clinches with Smith against the cage.

Murt gets control of Smith's arms and successfully pulls guard. Murt will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.
Murt is adopting a defensive guard.
Murt looking to hit a scissor sweep but Smith is one step ahead there.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Smith is looking to stand up but Murt won't let him.

Murt throwing his legs up looking for a triangle.

Murt pushes Smith off and scrambles back to his feet.
Murt takes one on the chin but seems OK.

Murt has taken the fight to the clinch.
Murt tries for a takedown. No joy.
Bill Smith has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Matthew Murt.

Murt breaks the clinch.

Murt pushes Smith up against the cage in a clinch.
Smith looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now.
Smith is trying to drag Murt to the mat but Murt just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Murt tries for a takedown. No joy.
Murt working Smith over with knees to the body.

Murt has double underhooks and is working for a body lock takedown. He's got it. The fighters land in half guard but Smith regains guard immediately.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Murt in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
Hammerfist, elbow! yells Murt's corner. There ya go! There ya go!

Murt drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Murt jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Murt with a flurry of punches that miss.

Murt scores with a decent looking elbow strike.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Murt throws a big right hand that misses.
Smith working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Murt.
Murt is working Smith over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.
Murt scoring with punches to the head and body.


Smith is rocked!
Murt throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Smith works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Murt distracts Smith with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.
Oh Smith is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!

Murt drops back looking for a leg! Smith is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Smith manages to kick Murt off! Murt jumps back into Smith's guard.
Murt lands a couple of digs.
Murt advances to half guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Murt is scoring with some nice ground and pound from the dominant position.
Murt has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Murt thows a huge punch but Smith dodges it nicely.

Murt seems to be looking for submissions.

Murt decides to return to a standing position.

Murt gets a takedown into half guard.
Murt is scoring with some nice ground and pound from the dominant position.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Murt trying to pass the guard but Smith defending well.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Matthew Murt dominated that round.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!


Murt changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Smith tries to avoid it but Murt manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Smith to the ground. Smith escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Smith takes a kick to the side of the head.

Murt gets in close and instigates a clinch.
Murt scores a nice knee to the body.
Smith could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Murt looking to throw knees to the head but Smith is blocking nicely.

Murt lands a big knee from the Thai clinch and Smith goes down hard! The ref takes a good look at him but he's still defending himself. Murt in side control.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Murt is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Smith is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
Murt cracks Smith with a big elbow. Oh, he's hurt! Murt immediately mounts and start dropping bombs! Smith is done! The referee jumps in and saves him from any more punishment - a quick and decisive finish by Murt!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:58 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Matthew Murt!
Matthew Murt tried to hype himself up post fight but didn't word it too well and it ended up with him sounding like a bit of a tool.
