PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Josh Osko (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Kyros Sisyphus (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Osko comes to the cage accompanied by Selling the Wind. Sisyphus has chosen Waters of Nazareth - Justice as his entrance music. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the welterweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Josh Osko!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Kyros Sisyphus!
The judges for this bout are Edson Gomes, Emerson Jorge and Seu Braga.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Osko lands a jab-cross combination.
Osko throws a low kick but it's checked well by Sisyphus.
Osko uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Sisyphus.
Sisyphus shoots for a takedown but Osko saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Sisyphus misses with a straight left.
Osko misses with a few strikes there.
Both fighters are looking to counter, which isn't making for the most exciting fight in the world.
Sisyphus shoots for a double leg takedown but Osko sprawls well. He's pushed Sisyphus's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Sisyphus doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body.
A slapping leg kick lands for Osko.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Osko misses with the combination.

Sisyphus shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Sisyphus showed some decent athleticism there.
Osko manages to get to full guard.
Osko is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage.

Sisyphus postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Osko is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Sisyphus, into his guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Sisyphus looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Osko wants to control from the top but Sisyphus keeps moving.
Osko throwing strikes but missing.
Osko in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
Sisyphus keeping moving, preventing Osko from controlling successfully.
Osko with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Sisyphus keeping full guard, as Osko tries to pass.
Osko throws a big elbow that misses.
Osko has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Osko stands up over Sisyphus, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.

Sisyphus escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Osko gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Osko wants to control from the top but Sisyphus keeps moving.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Sisyphus has his foot on Osko's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Osko works his way back into a safe position though.
Osko throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Osko with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal.
Both fighters really going for it on the ground here!
Osko trying to control but Sisyphus is working from the bottom.
Osko might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

Sisyphus is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Osko is aware though and is defending well.
Osko trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.

Sisyphus is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Osko defends well.

Sisyphus is actively looking for submissions from his back. He's worked himself a little space on the bottom and seems to be going for a triangle. No, he's switched into an armbar! That was slick! Osko rolls with it to try and escape but Sisyphus cranks on the arm and Osko is forced to tap out! This one is aaaaaaaaall over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:55 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Kyros Sisyphus!
Kyros Sisyphus is the new welterweight champion!
Kyros Sisyphus made sure to give a little speech post fight, saying 'I came from an amateur backgroung and got the win in the QFC tournament. Now I'm the Omnislash Gauntlet WW champion. There´s nothing stopping me now and hand on the next challenger!'.
