PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Jordan Stevens (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Viktor Bagrationov (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Viktor Bagrationov will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Jordan Stevens!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Viktor Bagrationov!
The judges for this bout are Colin Fotheringham, Andrew Berry and James Ackerman.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Bagrationov shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Stevens but Stevens pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Stevens tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Bagrationov paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Stevens throws a lazy head kick
and Bagrationov counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
Bagrationov fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.

Stevens gets in close and instigates a clinch.
Bagrationov misses the knee to the body. Nice hip positioning from Stevens.
Stevens gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Bagrationov.
Jordan Stevens has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Viktor Bagrationov.
Bagrationov wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee.
Bagrationov misses with a shot to the kidneys.

Bagrationov works for the underhooks and manages to get a trip takedown into guard.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.
Stevens bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Bagrationov's guard.

Bagrationov looking to hit a scissor sweep but Stevens is one step ahead there.
Stevens wants to control from the top but Bagrationov keeps moving.
Stevens seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
Stevens is pushing down on Bagrationov's leg trying to pass to half guard. Bagrationov is fighting to maintain full guard but Stevens has managed to sneak the leg through.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Stevens moves into full mount! Bagrationov won't be happy about that!
Stevens is landing with some decent strikes but Bagrationov is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue.

Bagrationov is in a horrible position here. Stevens smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.
Stevens sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Bagrationov trying desperately to get to his feet.

Bagrationov slips a leg in and gets back to half guard.
Stevens thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Bagrationov's head.

Stevens escapes and gets back to his feet.

Stevens clinches up with Bagrationov and pushes him back against the cage.
Bagrationov looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now.
A frustrated look appears on Stevens's face as he tries to break the clinch.

Stevens manages to break the clinch.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Bagrationov.
Bagrationov looks gassed!
Stevens shoots in looking for a takedown but Bagrationov manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Stevens's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Stevens shoots in and drives through. Bagrationov sprawls well.
Bagrationov shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Stevens but Stevens pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Stevens fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Bagrationov avoids it really well and circles away.
The fighters are starting to get sweaty, which will make takedowns a bit more tricky.
Bagrationov moves in looking to clinch but Stevens pushes him off.

Bagrationov has Stevens up against the cage in a clinch.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Stevens jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Bagrationov walks away with a smile on his face. Stevens gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Bagrationov tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Stevens swivels and escapes.
Bagrationov looks to land a right hand but Stevens moved out of range.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Jordan Stevens dominated that round.
That's time! Back to the action!


Bagrationov closes this distance looking for a takedown but Stevens circles away.
Stevens tries to score a power double leg takedown but Bagrationov sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Stevens somewhat.
Bagrationov changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Stevens tries to avoid it but Bagrationov manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Stevens to the ground. Stevens escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Stevens displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Bagrationov.
Jordan Stevens has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Viktor Bagrationov.
Stevens misses with a head kick.
Bagrationov misses with a takedown attempt - Stevens sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Bagrationov tries to clinch but Stevens is having none of it.
Bagrationov is breathing heavily.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Bagrationov enables Stevens to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Bagrationov manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.

Bagrationov is working an open guard so Stevens takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.

Stevens fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Bagrationov sprawls well initially but Stevens persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Stevens not doing much here.
Bagrationov is looking to control Stevens's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Bagrationov avoid being mounted?
Stevens is taking a breather. Bagrationov says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Jordan Stevens.
Stevens is looking to take this fight into the clinch.

Stevens gets a double leg takedown into Bagrationov's guard.
Stevens is pushing down on Bagrationov's leg trying to pass to half guard. Bagrationov is fighting to maintain full guard but Stevens has managed to sneak the leg through.
Stevens working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.

The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Stevens lands a nice short elbow.

Stevens is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.

Bagrationov looking for submissions off his back.

Stevens moves into full mount! Bagrationov won't be happy about that!
Stevens controlling the pace for now.

Bagrationov defends a decent attempt at a guillotine from Stevens.
Stevens looking to control but Bagrationov is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Bagrationov tries to reverse the position but Stevens maintains control.
Stevens tries to control but Bagrationov wriggling away.
Stevens takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Bagrationov keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Jordan Stevens dominated that second round.
That's time! Stevens's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. This is the final round!



Stevens has managed to clinch.
Stevens creates a bit of distance and throws an elbow that only just misses.
Stevens fails to pull guard.
Bagrationov wants to break the clinch but can't.
Bagrationov is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the cage enables Stevens to keep the fight standing.

Stevens jumps guard and drags Bagrationov to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.
Bagrationov throws an elbow that misses. Stevens uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Bagrationov's guard. Nice move by Stevens!
Stevens wants to control from the top but Bagrationov keeps moving.

That's one minute gone in the round.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Stevens accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Bagrationov is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Stevens defends well.
Stevens postures up.
Bagrationov takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

Stevens gets to his feet. Bagrationov looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!

Stevens drives through and clinches with Bagrationov against the cage.

Stevens breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

Stevens clinches.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Stevens prevents a takedown attempt there.
Bagrationov wants a takedown but no success here.
Jordan Stevens has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Viktor Bagrationov.
Bagrationov wants to take the fight to the mat but Stevens manages to get underhooks and keep the fight in the clinch.

Stevens gets control of Bagrationov's arms and successfully pulls guard. Stevens will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.
Stevens manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!
Stevens lands with some vicious ground and pound - can Bagrationov hang on?
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Stevens is working close to his opponent, looking to work a submission by the looks of things. Oh, he's managed to get a guillotine from mount as his opponent reached up! That looks tiiiiight! Will he tap? YES, he's tapped! Impressive submission by Stevens!
