Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Ron Kelly (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mark Calahan (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Ron Kelly!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 5 - 0, fighting out of New York, Mark Calahan!
The judges for this bout are Columbo Gatti, David Schapiro and Anthony Taglia.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Jab, cross, leg kick. Nice combination by Kelly!


It looks like Mark Calahan has been cut.
Calahan fails with the takedown.
Calahan defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Kelly.
Calahan throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Calahan closes this distance looking for a takedown but Kelly circles away.
Calahan takes a shot to the body in his stride.
Kelly stuffs the takedown.
Ron Kelly has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Mark Calahan.
Kelly dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Kelly goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo.

Kelly feints and as Calahan raises his hands in defense, Kelly changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.

Calahan really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Kelly. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Kelly gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.
Kelly throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Nice sprawl there from Kelly as Calahan shoots in.

Kelly fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
Kelly has a takedown stuffed.
Kelly is breathing heavily.
Calahan throws a sloppy body shot
and Kelly counters with a three punch combo that has Calahan backing up. Calahan nods at Kelly to acknowledge the strikes.

Calahan shoots in and bounces Kelly off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Kelly wants to stand but Calahan is controlling the position.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Calahan drops back looking for a leg! Kelly is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Kelly manages to kick Calahan off! Calahan jumps back into Kelly's guard.

Kelly kicks Calahan off and gets to his feet.
Calahan looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Kelly is fending him off so far but Calahan persists. Nope, Kelly circles away and we're back to standing.

Calahan shoots in looking for a takedown but Kelly manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Calahan's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.

Calahan looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Kelly scrambles, trying to get to his feet, but Calahan manages to mount him!

Calahan cracks Kelly with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.

The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

Calahan has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Kelly's face.
Kelly wants to try and get back to his feet.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Ron Kelly will probably get the nod.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Kelly enables Calahan to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Kelly manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
Kelly is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Calahan is controlling him.
Calahan is working Kelly over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.
Calahan with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal.
Kelly utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.

Calahan drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Kelly dives on top into guard.
Kelly stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Calahan swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Kelly has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Calahan is proving hard to escape from.

Calahan seems keen to control Kelly's posture.

Calahan wants to get back to his feet but Kelly is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
Calahan seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.

Mark Calahan tried to hype himself up post fight but didn't word it too well and it ended up with him sounding like a bit of a tool.
