Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 7 - 0, fighting out of New York, Christian Rudolph! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
5 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Oliver Twist! The judges for this bout are Jorge Garcia, Eddie Farnsworth and Joseph Jones.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Twist fails in his attempt to clinch. Rudolph misses with a left hand and Twist counters with a straight punch to the midsection. Rudolph misses with a body kick. Rudolph throws out a token jab with nothing on it. Twist swings for the body but Rudolph moves out of range.
A telegraphed right hand from Rudolph misses the target. Twist misses with a looping left. A telegraphed takedown attempt from Rudolph is defended easily by Twist. Twist shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Rudolph defends it nicely. Twist throws a body punch but Rudolph moves out of range. Twist takes a swing at Rudolph's ribcage but misses.
That's one minute gone in the round. Twist is looking to land body kicks. Twist misses with a body shot.
Rudolph looks to score with a jab to the body but Twist is just out of range. Twist is throwing a lot of body shots here, looking to wear down Rudolph rather than just go for the knockout. Twist thuds his right hand into Rudolph's forehead from close range. That could be painful for both fighters. Rudolph throws out a loose jab but Twist uses good head movement to avoid it. Rudolph gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Twist to score an easy takedown into full guard. Twist tries to free his leg and advance position but Rudolph is retaining full guard. Rudolph working a defensive guard here.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Twist thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position. Twist is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there. Twist trying to control the position from guard on top but Rudolph is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Twist passes into half guard.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Rudolph is refusing to be controlled, as Twist sits in half guard. Rudolph is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though. Twist seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Rudolph does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back. Twist maintaining the dominant position here and is working for a kimura. He's locked it up! Rudolph could be in real trouble here! He's trying to wriggle out but Twist has cracked it and Rudolph is screaming in pain - he's tapped out! Great finish by Twist!
