The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nava throws a shot to the body.
Nava looks to score with a jab to the body but Karlsson is just out of range.
Jesus Nava seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Karlsson steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Nava.
Karlsson shoots for a double leg takedown but Nava sprawls well. He's pushed Karlsson's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Nava avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
Karlsson throws a looping overhand right but Nava ducks down to avoid it.

The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.
Karlsson is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Karlsson is trying to maintain the position but Nava is very close to passing his half guard.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Karlsson is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Nava is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.

Karlsson goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Nava has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Karlsson but great work by Nava.

The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Karlsson cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!
