Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Ed Valquez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jason Allen (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The crowd seem to be enjoying Allen's choice of entrance music: Dying by Obituary. I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Jason Allen was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Valquez. Allen throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Valquez moves out of range of the body kick from Allen.
Valquez moves out of range of the leg kick from Allen. Allen throws a leg kick but Valquez sees it coming and checks it nicely. Allen fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Valquez manages to avoid it. Allen blocks the body kick.
Valquez looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Allen is fending him off so far but Valquez persists. Nope, Allen circles away and we're back to standing. Allen lands a head kick that stumbles Valquez and the fighters go to the mat.

It looks like Ed Valquez has been cut. Allen lands a couple of digs. Oh Valquez is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!! Allen is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions. Valquez looking for a guillotine here but Allen defends easily.
Allen trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. Allen forces his way into half guard. Valquez seems to have got his legs back now. Valquez is looking to improve his position.
That's one minute gone in the round. Allen wants to stand up but Valquez has a hold of him and won't allow it. Valquez wants to get back to full guard. Allen wants to take a breather but Valquez is having none of it. Valquez is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Both fighters really going for it on the ground here!
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. An inside leg kick lands from Allen. Valquez will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Ed Valquez. That's going to take a lot out of him. Valquez tries to clinch but Allen moves out of range. Allen fakes a jab and throws a low kick but Valquez checks it well. Allen instigates a clinch. Knees to the body from Allen.
Valquez drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Allen gets the underhooks and prevents it.
Valquez is breathing heavily. Allen lands an elbow inside. Allen scores a nice knee to the body.

That's two minutes gone in the round. Allen lands an elbow inside. A quick uppercut on the inside from Allen. Valquez tries to pull guard but Allen holds him up against the cage and eventually Valquez drops back down to his feet.

Allen tries a shoulder strike but it doesn't do any damage. Allen misses with a knee to the head. Valquez tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Allen lands a nice elbow. Allen is pressed up against the cage. Valquez has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Allen down to the mat. Allen avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance. Wow, both these guys are really going for it! Allen tries to clinch but Valquez moves out of range. Valquez looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Allen is fending him off so far but Valquez persists. Nope, Allen circles away and we're back to standing. Allen with a poor takedown and Valquez counters with a nice double leg into guard. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Valquez passes into half guard. Allen is trying to maintain the position but Valquez is very close to passing his half guard. Valquez works his foot free and advances to mount. Allen tries to reverse the position but Valquez maintains control.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Valquez with some aggressive grappling here. He's looking for submissions here, rather than waiting for the opportunity to counter.
Allen tries to hold on but Valquez postures up. Allen is wriggling around trying to escape.
Valquez avoids the attempt from Allen to control. Allen keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.
Valquez wants to finish this one by submission but Allen is holding onto his waist, trying to prevent any attacks from Valquez. Allen is writhing around trying to get back to his feet. Allen is wriggling around trying to escape.
Valquez takes his opponent's back. Perhaps a chance to lock up a rear naked choke here.
Valquez is not going to allow Allen to sit and survive in this position.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Valquez looking for the RNC. Allen fending off the submission attempt from Valquez. Valquez controlling well, preventing Allen from escaping the position.
Valquez gets his hands free as Allen looks to control. Valquez working for a RNC but it's not happening just yet. Valquez is working the back position looking for the choke. Oh, he's slid into an armbar! Beautiful transition and Allen taps out! Fantastic Jiu Jitsu from Valquez.
