Jefferson is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: Gladys Knight - Midnight train to Georgia. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

With a record of 8 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Michael Jefferson!
The judges for this bout are Albert Achterberg, Wagner Zegers and Paul Aken.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Jefferson shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Justice is trying to defend but Jefferson finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.

Jefferson wants to take a breather but Justice is having none of it.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Jefferson looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Justice with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

Jefferson feints and as Justice raises his hands in defense, Jefferson changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Jefferson wants to control from the top but Justice keeps moving.
Justice wants to get back to his feet but Jefferson is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
Justice knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Jefferson on the ground.

Justice can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Jefferson controls the pace.

Jefferson drops back looking for a leg! Justice is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Justice manages to kick Jefferson off! Jefferson jumps back into Justice's guard.

Jefferson passes Justice's right leg, so he's now in half guard.
Jefferson looks to score some points with some ground and pound.

Jefferson wants to work for an arm triangle but Justice is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Jefferson lands a nice short elbow.
Jefferson scores with a couple of good hammerfists.
Jefferson prevents Justice from standing back up.
Justice is breathing heavily.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Jefferson in particular looking to stall.

The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Jefferson connects with a nice short shot to Justice's temple.

Justice is rocked!
Jefferson drops an elbow to the side of Justice's head.
Oh Justice is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!
Jefferson lands a big elbow from half guard. That looks like it's hurt Justice quite badly. Justice pulls Jefferson in close trying to recover. Jefferson postures up and lands two really hard shots that put Justice on queer street! The ref takes a look and decides to call an end to the fight! Possibly an early stoppage but Justice doesn't seem to be complaining too much.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:55 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Michael Jefferson!
