PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Tokugawa Hattori (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Obed Kunirio (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters will be looking to make this an exciting fight for the fans, I'm sure!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Tokugawa Hattori!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 11 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Obed Kunirio!
The judges for this bout are Sosuke Kotani, Yukihiro Shimada and Shigeki Sano.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kunirio throws a right and a left that Hattori avoids nicely.
Kunirio leaves Hattori with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Hattori fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Kunirio avoids it really well and circles away.
No luck for Hattori with that takedown attempt.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Tokugawa Hattori. That's going to take a lot out of him.
No joy there for Hattori, who threw a few shots but didn't land.

That's one minute gone in the round.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Hattori.
Hattori looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Kunirio is fending him off so far but Hattori persists. Nope, Kunirio circles away and we're back to standing.
Hattori shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Kunirio as he avoids it easily.
Tokugawa Hattori seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Hattori shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Kunirio defends it nicely.
Kunirio displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Hattori.

Kunirio closes the distance and clinches.
Kunirio throws a head punch that misses.
Hattori blocks a punch to the side of the head.
Hattori prevents a body shot from Kunirio.
Kunirio prevents the takedown attempt.
Kunirio lands a body punch in the clinch.
Hattori is breathing heavily.
Hattori blocking some punches.
Kunirio lands with a right to the head.
Kunirio works for underhooks and lands a body shot in the process.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Kunirio is working Hattori over against the cage.
Kunirio lands a shot to the body.
Hattori has Kunirio pressed against the cage, preventing Kunirio from circling away and getting back to striking at range.

Kunirio throws a hook to the body. More of an arm punch but it's all scoring with the judges.
Kunirio tries a body shot but Hattori blocks it.
A nice left hand lands by Kunirio.
A short right from Kunirio on the inside.
Kunirio scores with a nice hook to the head.
This has been an exciting period of action!

Kunirio lands with a left to the head.

Kunirio escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Kunirio misses with a wild body shot.
Nice takedown defense from Kunirio. No joy for Hattori on that attempt.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Kunirio thows a body shot but no joy.
Kunirio leaves Hattori with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Kunirio connects with a body shot.
Hattori takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Kunirio jabbing away but nothing is landing.
Kunirio rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Hattori moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Obed Kunirio dominated that round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Hattori tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Kunirio swivels and escapes.
No luck for Hattori with that takedown attempt.
Kunirio lands a nice shot to the body.

Kunirio moves into range and clinches up with Hattori.
Still in the clinch, Kunirio scores with a nice short uppercut.

Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Kunirio escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Kunirio slaps away a takedown attempt from Hattori, before circling back to the center of the mat.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Tokugawa Hattori. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Hattori moves away from the strike by Kunirio.
Kunirio cracks Hattori with a hook to the temple - Hattori is on wobbly legs here! Kunirio swarms him with hook after hook, landing with each one! Hattori falls to the canvas face first and the referee dives in to stop the fight! Kunirio wins by TKO!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:29 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Punches). Obed Kunirio!
