Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Matheus Santos Alves (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Fernando Vasconcellos (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are Luis Engracia, Seu Braga and Alexandre Firmino.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Alves shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Vasconcellos as he avoids it easily.
Vasconcellos bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Vasconcellos misses with the ground and pound.
Vasconcellos controls the position from side control.
Alves tries to get back to his feet but has found himself mounted instead. Damn, that's gotta suck.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Vasconcellos is landing with some decent strikes but Alves is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue.
It looks like Matheus Santos Alves has been cut.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Alves is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Vasconcellos is standing up, even though he is in mount.
Vasconcellos keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Alves darts in trying to clinch
and Vasconcellos counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Alves!

Alves has left one of his arms exposed and Vasconcellos doesn't need a second invitation. He's isolated it and locked on a tight armbar. Alves screams and taps out, obviously in a lot of pain. Hopefully there isn't permanent damage to that arm.
