Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Dante West (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jeff Lawlor (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Dante West!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Jeff Lawlor!
The judges for this bout are Roger Salmon, Colin Fray and Ryoma Takatsuka.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Lawlor has West up against the cage in a clinch.
West looks exhausted already! Oh dear, he should have come in in better shape than this!

Lawlor manages to pull guard.
Lawlor has control of West's left arm, preventing West from doing any damage.
West wants to control from the top but Lawlor keeps moving.
Lawlor has West pulled in close to control his posture.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
West throws a head kick but Lawlor moves out of range.

Lawlor closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. West did well to prevent Lawlor getting side control.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Lawlor wants to free his trapped foot but West is holding on for dear life with his legs.

Lawlor thows a huge punch but West dodges it nicely.
Well, if Lawlor is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Lawlor throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent West stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.

Lawlor darts in and clinches West up against the cage.
West takes a knee to the side of the body.

Lawlor breaks from the clinch.

Lawlor has closed the distance and engaged West in a clinch.

Lawlor gets a nice trip takedown into half guard.
Lawlor is controlling the pace.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Lawlor wants to work for an arm triangle but West is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.



Lawlor shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Lawlor is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
Lawlor postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head.

Lawlor drops back looking for a leg! West is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and West manages to kick Lawlor off! Lawlor jumps back into West's guard.

West escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Lawlor gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
West can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Lawlor controls the pace.
Lawlor tries to free his leg and advance position but West is retaining full guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Lawlor stands up from West's guard - Lawlor perhaps looking for a knockout.

Lawlor closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. West quickly recovers to half guard.
Jeff Lawlor has got the better of the ground game so far.

Lawlor stands, ready to strike. The ref makes him back up and allows West to get to his feet.

Lawlor clinches.

Lawlor breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
That kick from Lawlor tenderised West's leg. West is trying to keep his angry face on.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Lawlor shoots in and bounces West off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.

West working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Lawlor doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Lawlor manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Lawlor slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by Jeff Lawlor.

The fight moves into the clinch position.

Lawlor manages to pull guard.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Jeff Lawlor showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's time! West's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. This is the final round!

Lawlor pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Lawlor will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

Dante West is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Lawlor looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Lawlor shoots in looking for a takedown but West manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Lawlor's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
Dante West has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jeff Lawlor.

Lawlor is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Lawlor has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Lawlor is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in West's half guard.

We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.

Lawlor takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
West is in a horrible position here. Lawlor smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.

Lawlor wants to finish this one by submission but West is holding onto his waist, trying to prevent any attacks from Lawlor.

Lawlor is working on an americana here. Ooh, that looks pretty nasty! Nope, West has managed to escape the submission attempt.
Lawlor tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.

And that's the end of the fight!
Jeff Lawlor comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Lawlor has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
