Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Michael Galustyan! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Stefan Steele! The judges for this bout are Daniel Blasius, Saam Ante and Albert Achterberg.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Steele looks to land a right hand but Galustyan moved out of range. Galustyan uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Steele. Steele has managed to clinch.
Galustyan turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and Galustyan manages to end up in side control. Galustyan working the ground and pound but he's contacting the mat, not the fighter. Galustyan looking to control but instead Steele has slipped a leg in, to regain half guard. Galustyan thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Steele's head. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Galustyan lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt. Galustyan working Steele over with strikes. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Steele is staying active underneath Galustyan, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
That's one minute gone in the round. Galustyan not landing any meaningful shots this time. Galustyan throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man. Galustyan throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage. Steele regains full guard, whilst avoiding punches from Galustyan. Galustyan throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent. Galustyan wants to control from the top but Steele keeps moving. Steele manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Galustyan manages to get himself to full guard.
Galustyan on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Galustyan tries to get out of the position. Steele pushing down on Galustyan's thigh, trying to pass to half guard. He's managed it... Nice work. Galustyan is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though. Galustyan is trying to stand back up but Steele is controlling him
That's two minutes gone in the round. Steele works his foot free and advances to mount. Galustyan is looking to get to half guard. You get the feeling that Galustyan really doesn't like being in this position too much.
Steele looking for a guillotine from mount but Galustyan is having none of it. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Galustyan tries to reverse the position but Steele maintains control. The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult. Steele wants to control the pace but Galustyan is squirming around nicely. Steele is standing up out of mount! Strange tactic there - he must really want this one on the feet! Steele throws a right hand that misses
and Galustyan decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Steele's guard. Steele avoiding any damage from the ground and pound. Steele is pulling down on Galustyan's head. It's preventing any offense from Galustyan, at least for the moment. Steele working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Galustyan.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Steele is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Galustyan lands a couple of elbows. Galustyan postures up.
Galustyan wants to control from the top but Steele keeps moving. Galustyan drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Steele dives on top into guard. Steele stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Galustyan swivels though and keeps the full guard. Steele trying to control but Galustyan is working from the bottom. Galustyan wants to stand up but Steele is controlling him.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Steele pushes down on Galustyan's leg and manages to get into half guard. Steele uses his free foot to push down on Galustyan's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Galustyan. Galustyan holding onto his opponent's waist for dear life, as Steele tries to land some strikes to get him to release his grip.
Steele can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Galustyan is looking to escape. Steele stands up from mount. Strange move. This has been an exciting period of action! A telegraphed right hand from Steele misses the target. The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action! Galustyan closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Steele's guard. Galustyan chips away with some ground and pound. Galustyan looking to sit in guard and control but Steele gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close round but I would say that Michael Galustyan will probably get the nod. That's time! Back to the action!
Steele displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Galustyan. Stefan Steele seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Steele throws a shot to the body.

and Galustyan decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Steele's guard. Galustyan trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. Steele is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move. Steele is keen to just control but Galustyan is a slippery customer. Michael Galustyan overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Steele looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Galustyan is trying to stand back up but Steele is controlling him
That's one minute gone in the round. Still in half guard, Steele seems content to control. Galustyan won't allow Steele to pass to mount. Steele passes the guard and advances to mount! Galustyan is squirming around, avoiding Steele's attempts to control the action. Galustyan tries to hold on but Steele pushes him away. Steele thowing shots but they're missing. Steele trying to control but he's not successful this time. Galustyan prevents Steele from taking his back. Steele trying to control but he's not successful this time. Galustyan knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Steele on the ground. Galustyan wants to hold on but Steele pushes him away.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Galustyan is desperately trying to improve his position but Steele has a good base and remains in mount. Steele seems to be looking to move to his opponent's back but Galustyan is holding on tight.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Galustyan squirming around on the bottom, looking to escape.
Steele jumps to side control looking for an arm triangle but Galustyan manages to avoid the submission attempt. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Steele in side control, working for a kimura. He's got hold of an arm and he's torquing it... Galustyan is tapping! That's the end of the fight!
