Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Squirtle Blastoise (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Kyo Kurosaki (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Blastoise comes to the cage accompanied by The Rolling Stones: Sympathy For The Devil. Kurosaki has chosen Machiavellism - Dir En Grey as his entrance music. Squirtle Blastoise has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Squirtle Blastoise!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 8 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Kyo Kurosaki!
The judges for this bout are Mauricio Rocha, Daniel Cesar and Paulo Santos.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kurosaki misses with a hook. Blastoise ducked under it nicely.
A thudding body kick lands there by Blastoise!
Kurosaki fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Blastoise throws a nice inside leg kick.
Blastoise thumps Kurosaki with a low kick.
Blastoise takes a hook to the side of the head. I wonder if that's got his ears ringing.
Blastoise shoots in looking for a takedown. Kurosaki tries to sprawl out of it but Blastoise keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Kurosaki manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Blastoise has a takedown stuffed.

and Kurosaki counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.

The fighters circling - Blastoise throws out the jab but it was never going to land.

Kyo Kurosaki seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Blastoise will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.

Blastoise closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.
Kurosaki is trying to stand.
Kurosaki is using up a lot of energy trying to get back to his feet. Perhaps he should improve his position first.
Blastoise is trying to control the action in half guard but Kurosaki is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.

Blastoise is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Kurosaki is just riding it out for now. Blastoise eventually gives up the hold.
Kurosaki really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Blastoise. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Kurosaki looks like he's trying to stand up.
Blastoise thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.

Blastoise takes a jab on the nose there. A little bit of blood seems to be coming out. Hopefully that won't affect his breathing.

Kurosaki might want to mix his strikes up a bit more. He's just going for head shots at the moment and that can become a bit predictable.

Kurosaki walks forward, straight into a front kick from Blastoise.
Blastoise ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.
Kurosaki throws a jab when Blastoise was well out of range.

Blastoise feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Kurosaki is edging up against the cage. He's using the cage to get back to his feet. Nice work there - the fighters are clinched.
Blastoise jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Kurosaki walks away with a smile on his face. Blastoise gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
Kurosaki tries to bum rush Blastoise with a series of wild strikes but Blastoise uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Kurosaki throws a nice looking combination but Blastoise bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Some bone on bone action there as Kurosaki checks a low kick. Luckily it wasn't a particularly hard one.
Kurosaki is landing a lot of head punches in this opening round! Blastoise had better start moving his head a bit unless he wants his face to turn into pâté.

Kurosaki rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Blastoise moves out of range and avoids them all easily.

Blastoise lands a nice leg kick that just misses Kurosaki's sensitive parts.

Kurosaki throws a right and a left that both miss.
Kurosaki misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Blastoise.
Kurosaki will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Blastoise shoots in but no luck this time.
Kurosaki keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.


Horrible takedown by Blastoise or perhaps it was just good defense by Kurosaki which made him look bad.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Blastoise creates some space and throws a big elbow, but Kurosaki sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike.

Blastoise throws a strike aimed at the side of Kurosaki's head but Kurosaki avoids it well.
Kurosaki is trying to get back to his feet.
Blastoise is looking to take a break and control but Kurosaki is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Kurosaki is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Blastoise has just dragged him back down to the mat.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

The referee asks Blastoise politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. Blastoise prefers to stall for the moment though.

Squirtle Blastoise overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Blastoise tries for a takedown but Kurosaki sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Kurosaki throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Kyo Kurosaki is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Blastoise fails miserably with a takedown attempt.

Blastoise's hands are dropping dangerously low here and Kurosaki connects clean with a right hook that sends him down to one knee! Blastoise scrambles back to his feet.

Blastoise shoots in looking for a takedown but Kurosaki manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Blastoise's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

That was a close second round but I would say that Squirtle Blastoise will probably get the nod.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! This is the final round!


Kurosaki lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
Blastoise slips a jab and a cross from Kurosaki.

Kurosaki takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

Kurosaki scores with a punch to the gut of his opponent.
Blastoise moves out of range of the strikes.
Kurosaki misses with a straight left.
Kurosaki swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Blastoise ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.

Blastoise shoots in for a double leg but Kurosaki sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.

Blastoise fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Kurosaki sprawls well initially but Blastoise persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Blastoise is figuring out what he wants to do next.

Kurosaki's corner are shouting for him to stand up but that's bad cornering - how is he meant to stand up when he's mounted? He should be looking to improve his position on the ground before trying to stand back up.

Blastoise pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage.

Blastoise won't let Kurosaki get back to his feet... He wants to keep the fight where it is for now.
