Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between August Spies (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Chris Green (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I can't wait for this one - let's get the fighter introductions out of the way and get this one started!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, August Spies!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Chris Green!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Spies throws a right hand that Green ducks under and follows up with a left that Green also avoids with ease.

Spies clinches up with Green and pushes him back against the cage.

Spies breaks the clinch.
Green fails with a takedown attempt.
Green tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Spies swivels and escapes.
August Spies seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Green keeps the fight on the outside.

Spies clinches up with Green and pushes him back against the cage.

Spies breaks the clinch.
Spies tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Spies throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.

Green bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Spies is looking to regain half guard here but Green keeps moving and retains side control.
Green trying to control the action but Spies is working from the bottom.

Green tries to advance to mount but can't.
Green is pausing for a moment. What's he doing? It looks like he's clearing his nose. Oh dude! He's shot a load of snot all down Spies's shoulder. That is not cool.

Spies tries to get back to half guard but can't.

Green is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Spies is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Green wants to control for a moment but Spies uses the opportunity to move back to half guard.
Green manages to get to full guard.
Spies has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
Green trying to strike from the bottom but really, it's not the best position to be doing that from!
Green keeping moving, preventing Spies from controlling successfully.

Spies gets to his feet. Green looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!
Green avoids a punch combination nicely.
Spies misses with the combination.
Spies throws a sloppy head kick and Green moves out of range easily.
A combination from Green does no damage.
Spies tries to clinch up but Green circles away and keeps his distance.
Green shoots for a takedown but Spies saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
August Spies has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Chris Green.

Spies closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Spies prevents Green from improving his position.
Spies is looking to pass the guard... He's managed it - he's now in full mount!

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Green is looking to improve his position but Spies isn't that keen on the idea.
Green tries to hold on but Spies postures up.
Spies tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
Green tries to lock up and control but Spies gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
Green tries to get back to half guard but can't.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Green regains half guard.
Spies wants to take a breather but Green is having none of it.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that August Spies will probably get the nod.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Spies wants to clinch.

Green closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Spies to the mat! Spies manages to get full guard.
Spies seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.
Green wants to control from the top but Spies keeps moving.
Spies is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Spies lands some strikes from the bottom.
Spies wants to sweep but no luck.

Spies not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Spies is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Green gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily

and Spies counters with a nice double leg into side control. Green won't be happy with that.
Spies avoids the strikes from the bottom by Green.
Green sneaks back into half guard.
Green keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Green is defending against the submission attempts here by Spies.
Green is trying to control but can't.

Spies stalling.
Green wants to improve his position but Spies is controlling well.
Spies missing with the ground and pound from half guard.
Spies lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt.
Green trying to control but Spies postures up.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Spies throws a right hand that Green ducks under and follows up with a left that Green also avoids with ease.

Green with a lazy takedown attempt

and Spies counters with a single leg into guard. Green didn't expect that.
Green looking for a sweep. Not yet Green, not yet.
Spies postures up.
Spies has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Green is proving hard to escape from.

Green has his foot on Spies's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Spies works his way back into a safe position though.
Spies forces his way into half guard.
Green tries to roll over but Spies keeps him under control.
Spies with a momentary lay and pray from half guard.
Green is trying to control but Spies manages to pass to mount!

Green is in a horrible position here. Spies smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.
Spies wants to control the pace but Green is squirming around nicely.
Green is looking to improve his position but Spies isn't that keen on the idea.
Green tries to hold on but Spies postures up.
Green is bucking up trying to escape but Spies cracks him with another couple of good strikes.
Green tries to hold on but Spies pushes him away.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

August Spies dominated that second round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!


Green swats away the attempt to clinch by Spies.
Spies lands with a hook. Green tried to avoid it but it clipped the top of his head.
Spies pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Spies darts in and out, connecting with a jab.
A head kick misses from Green.
Green keeps the fight on the outside.

Spies darts in and clinches Green up against the cage.
Both guys are working to get underhooks.
Green can't get the takedown.
Spies tries to land a knee to the head but misses.
Spies lands with a short head shot on the inside.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Spies breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Spies throws a head kick that half lands.
Horrible takedown by Green or perhaps it was just good defense by Spies which made him look bad.

Spies bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.

Spies working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Spies controlling the position.
Green manages to get back to half guard.
Green is looking for a sweep. Spies is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
August Spies overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Green blocking the ground and pound attempt from Spies.
Green is trying to get back to full guard.
Green throws a strike from the bottom that misses.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Green works his way to full guard. Good work.
Spies won't allow Green to sweep him here.
Spies wants to stand but Green has a closed guard, so he can't escape.
Green controls Spies momentarily but Spies frees himself.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Spies loads up on a big right hand but Green slips the punch.
Spies misses with a jab, cross combination.
Spies throws a jab but it's blocked by Green.
Spies rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Green moves out of range and avoids them all easily.

Green scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground.
Green wants to pass the guard but Spies is defending well.
Green passes the guard and advances to mount!

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Spies wants to control but Green is having none of it.
Green trying to control but Spies is having none of it.
Green with the ground and pound from mount.
Green controlling from the full mount.
Spies keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Spies is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
Green landing strikes from the mount and Spies is in trouble!
Green wants to control the pace but Spies is squirming around nicely.
Green looking to finish Spies with some ground and pound. This is bad for Spies!

Green takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
Green lands a big elbow.

And that's the end of the fight!
Chris Green comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Spies has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
